Historical Victory Videos

Very exciting! You are quickly becoming my favorite RFC-DoC-centric YouTuber.
Thank you! I have a lot of competition, that means a lot!

I am very happy that this is even a thing at all. Thank you for making all these videos.

Sailing across the Pacific Ocean without large, oceangoing ships is no easy task, yet the Polynesians have found a way. Using their robust and speedy Waka, the Polynesians traverse thousands of miles of ocean in order to find new homelands to settle, and a suitable location to build the imposing Moai Statues!
Is the Waka drowning the militia on board a bug? I know if a cargo ship is destroyed by enemies then the cargo is lost, but what about a cargo ship being consumed intentionally? Might be worth posting that in the bug thread and finding out.

Wait, there's more people than Hickman doing this?

I'm happy to get your official seal of approval. I've put so many hours into this wonderful mod, it just seemed right that I could help give back to this community and make some videos on how to play the game better. That, and I think that this mod is criminally underrated, and if making these videos helps get some new eyeballs on this project, and bring in some new players, then I'll keep on making these videos.

I don't think it's a bug... Honestly, I was just willing to take the L for me not paying attention. I don't know what should happen if I decide to make a fishing boat out of an occupied Waka. Should he teleport to the nearest city? Should the action just be not available?
Wait, there's more people than Hickman doing this?
I see there's a few channels that have put out videos for this mod, but even then, they are older videos and only a handful of walkthroughs.

The Persians are the upstart power in the middle east, looking to overshadow the former glory of the Babylonians, Assyrians, and even the Egyptians. Watch as the Persians expand and eclipse the glory of all the other ancient civilizations in the region, and march on to form the greatest empire of the world!

Overshadowed everyone except Harappans, as nothing and nobody can overshadow them surviving almost until the Common Era has begun

Also wait, since you're playing Tibet next, I thought you were going in the chronological order of civs as they spawn in the game

The Harrapans are going to outlive us all in that game.

No, I just randomly played as Tibet one day and beat them, but didn't make a video for it, so I added it onto my signature like a medal. I still plan on releasing videos chronologically!

I like to raze Kalpe and a new city on the coast there of Anatolia cuts you a lot of slack for the road.

That's not a bad idea if you're pressed for time and the Hittites are putting up too much of a fight. I never had too much of an issue conquering the Hittites, though

Looks like city list for Persia's 3rd goal orders cities by culture level instead of number of culture points and uses order in which the cities are obtained as tie breaker.

The Celtic people, centered around Gaul, are living a simple and humble agricultural life. However, they are about to have their lives turned upside down by a new civilization rising in the south: Rome. Will the Celtic people be able to mount a successful defense of their native land, or will they be forced out to the fringes of Europe?

Past the first two UHV I prefer to just leave the continental cities and focus on the British Isles to avoid dealing with the barbarians, though the downside is there's not much to do until Orthodoxy spreads. Your way is probably more interesting.

Very instructive video as always. I have a question for you: besides the happiness malus is there any other reason for not using slavery and sacrificing population to get units out and keep the non core population small?

It's more interesting, and also, I'm free to spread Orthodoxy to my own cities. I don't have to wait to ask for open borders, or deal with Orthodoxy failing to spread if it's not their religion. Also, if Orthodoxy was faster to spread to my initial city, or if I had taken over an Orthodox city sooner like I did in the video, I think it would've possible to beat the third goal before France even spawns. That's what I was trying to do.

I think you mean Despotism. But I didn't switch to Despotism because I didn't have that much surplus population to whip; And also, Monarchy gives +50% :food: added to production, and I was training a lot of settlers and workers for the first half of the game. Maybe there was a window where whipping would've been beneficial, to whip out some infrastructure and extra units, but then I would have needed to switch back to Monarchy quickly to get my cities happy again. Ultimately, I don't think it would've been worth two turns of revolution.

It was only when I watched this video when I discovered that the French spawn causing all Celtic cities outside of the British Isles to secede applies to the human player too... lol

Yeah, it was only when I played this game that I realized that too. I had run a few test games to get my opening moves right, but there on video was my first time where I saw what the French spawn looks like for the Celts!

The eternal city of Rome has been settled. With a powerful standing army and a robust set of civics guiding her, Rome is on the precipice of building the greatest empire in world history. Leading the way with innovations in politics, sanitation, engineering and military tactics, the glory of Rome shall soon be known by all of her neighbors: The Carthaginians, the Greeks, the Egyptians, the Celts.
