HOF Mod Support/Suggestions

That sounds strange Thrallia. The screen settings are in the same place, in the CivilizationIV.ini file, for both with/without the mod. I always play in a window too and have never seen this, though I always play with the HOF mod using the "Mod = " option in the ini file, not swapping back and forwards. I'll have a try and see if I can get it to go wrong for me.

in the very late game, when almost all civs (probably all) has the Apollo program already built, in the F4 techs screen rocketry was shown as "can research" for some turn.

In addition, I can't remember to have seen they was researching it, when they probably was, but can't be sure of this.

A couple of thoughts about the enhanced F4 Advisor that comes with the HOF mod. (BTW, I really like the mod, especially the Civ4lerts and this advisor.)

First, is the Glance screen fair? I know I can get the modifiers for my own civ by doing the grunt work, but is it possible to get the modifiers between any two other civs without using the Glance screen?

Second, I love the Technology screen, but wish for one other thing: That I could be advised of who is willing to go to war (with whom) or discontinue trading (with whom). I recognize this won't fit on the Technology screen, but another that displays this info along with Techs they want from me would be really nice. If this screen already exists and I missed it somehow, somebody please let me know! :crazyeye:

It depends on your definition of "fair". We (the HOF staff) believe it's fair as it doesn't show any information that wasn't previously available without using the HOF mod, it just saves the user a lot of effort to collate it. See this post

That's an interesting idea. It's not something that's currently available, but I don't see why it couldn't be done (apart from effort).

Click on the leader icon then hover your mouse over another leader's icon and it shows the +/- relations between the two civs.

I figured it was available somewhere, but I don't know if I ever would have found that. Thanks. Now I can continue to use Glance, but without the guilt! ;)

Are there any plans to incorporate more elements into the HOF mods? TheLopez, for example, has some great work in the HoF mods already, but will there be more? His MAD Nukes Mod is most interesting.

We haven't got any other mods on our list to add at the moment, but we're interested in suggestions. The intention of the HOF mod is that is shouldn't alter game play, so your example of the MAD Nukes Mod is not really approprate for inclusion.

Ok... so I downloaded and installed HOF and mapfinder 1.2 as well as the .NET Framework 2.0.. HOF works fine, but when I try to open Map Finder it encounters a problem and needs to close... the Error signature is....

EventType : clr20r3 P1 : civ4_map_finder.exe P2 : 1.1.2419.28960
P3 : 44e39735 P4 : civ4_map_finder P5 : 1.1.2419.28960 P6 : 44e39735
P7 : 2 P8 : 22 P9 : system.nullreferenceexception

I have no idea what this means, but how do I get this program to work?

Bug report, Warlords, HOF mod 001:

Similar or identical to bug reported by BLubmuz.

Attached screen shots show that in the Advanced Foreign Advisor, Techs screen, Mehmed II can research both Nationalism and Military Tradition, which is an impossibility. The first screen shot shows the error displayed by the Foreign Advisor, the second screenshot shows the shipped Foreign Advisor displaying the correct situation.

In the included save file, mousing over the Nationalism shows it as researched, while Military Traditions shows it would require two turns.

There is a missing dependency with one of the controls. I have not been able to figure out why it works for some people and not for others. You might try the older VB6 application:

Setup
updated data files

There is a dependency on office for the VB6 version and you must manually point the ini file to the paths/files using the Civ4 options (HOF tab 3).

I will take a look. Thanks.

There's a map regen problem - I usually make a start save to start regen from and not put names each time for all AI. However, since HoF mod 1.61.007 my Highlands maps (haven't checked other types) are generated after loading the save as having no wood.

Make sure your Map Finder HOF ini (Game Options tab - HOF3) is pointing to the correct Civ4_Map_Finder path/files. There were new data files that came with Civ4_Map_Finder V1.1 needed for HOF mod .005 and beyond. That can cause python errors. Not that those errors would result in what you are describing. If it continues, I would suggest re-installing Civ4.

I think I have found a solution to the NullReference Exception people have been experiencing. I have created an updated version that has the ability to override the use of the MSFlexGrid control. It will instead use a .Net control with text column headers. (Sorry, the icon were the reason I was using the MSFlexGrid.)

What you need to do is:
  1. Download Civ4_Map_Finder V1.3. (It still uses the MSFlexGrid control by default.)
  2. To get it to override the to the new control all you have to do is put a text file named "Override.txt" into the Civ4_Map_Finder folder. (I have attached an example.)
That's it. :) I have tried it on a machine where I get the NullReference Exception and it works there.

Are you guys familiar with a new science overflow bug in Warlords? It is reported in this bug report post and a fix for the bug is also available if you follow the link in that post. However, the fix cannot be applied directly to this mod as this mod has already changed the fixed dll-file.

Will you fix the bug or do you think it would change the game for the people using the mod in such a way that it is inapplicable for HOF-games? I hope that Firaxis will fix the bug themselves in their upcoming patch.
