Thanks for your answer.

Question: Did you turn the Foreign Advisor screen of Warlords into the vanilla version in HOF-2.00.002 mod for Warlords?

I prefer the Warlords version instead. Much more detail.

Do you have the Exotic Foreign Advisor turned on? (Options/HOF2 tab) I don't see any difference between Vanilla and Warlord's Foreign Advisor, with or without the mod. Do you have a pic showing what you mean?

Nope. My bad. You're right. I just had to turn on the Exotic Foreign Advisor. Thanks a bunch :D

Hmm... I have a question... how do I start, for example, on the left side of the map in Great Plains? Normally I would set myself to "team 2" to do that but I think HOF Mod automatically assigns team numbers, always giving me "1".

It is probably best to stick with team 1. It might confuse us. ;)

I do know that if you generate enough random maps you will be placed there a certain percentage of the time. I did a lot of testing on Great Plains. Given enough tries you will appear everywhere sooner or later.

When I use MapFinder and change a Rule in the Rulebuilder - how do I have it automatically update the .ini file for warlords? All it ever does for me is update the Vanilla .ini but when I want to run Warlords and use the new Rule I have to manually type its Name in the HofMod Options...

I haven't gotten around to making it do that yet. I really need to rethink how it updates the ini files. I am not really happy with the way it works now for vanilla. Adding support for the Warlords HOF Mod ini without some redsign, will only make it worse. It is on my to-do list.

Hi... just installed the latest vanilla HOF mod, thought I'd give it a try. On creation of any game, I'm informed by the red text that the game is not valid. If the game is created through "play now" the victory: settings screen displays two errors. First, on the bottom of the first column, "CRCs are missing. Game is not valid," and on the second column, "Lock Modified Assets (something or other)."

If I create a custom game and check lock modified assets, the game again informs me that it is not valid for HOF play, but the victory: settings screen displays nothing out of the ordinary.

Does CRC here mean cyclical redundancy check, and if so, is it telling me that one of my game files is corrupt? Or one of the mod files?

Thanks much,
Hachiman

The Lock Modified Assets setting causes Civ4 to save CRCs (yes, there are cyclical redundancy checks) for Assets, exe, etc. If you are still getting the warning but there is nothing on the Settings tab then most likely you have one or more altered or extra files in your Assets (Python, XML, etc.). One common cause is using CivScale. If you can't figure out what's different you may need to uninstall, delete you civ folders and resintall.

Or possible you don't have defined enough civs, hachiman. You can try selecting a few more, and see whether that fixes it (it did for me :)).
Good to see you around Space!

Me too ;).

I don't think that's it though space. Have you seen that the mod tells you what's wrong on the victory screen? If you haven't got enough opponents then it tells you exactly that on that screen, no need to guess!

Hey all, thanks for the answers. It ends up that my initial hunch was correct. After banging my head against the wall from some pretty nasty system instabillity, I ran some tests and found out that one of my sticks of RAM had gone bad, resulting in lots of corrupted data.

Anyways, again, thanks for the help.

I'm having trouble getting a legal version accepted. I installed the game following a disk crash and then installed the HOF mod that was linked to the GOTM. At the time it was HOF-1.61.007. When I finished the game I saw that my game didn't meet requirements due to "lock modified assets".
I've searched the forum but not found an answer.
What do I need to check in order to get this workable. Note that I haven't installed any other mods and I cannot find any "options" addressing this.

The only unusual issue I have for my installation is that I have "My Documents" and "Program Files" on a separate hard drive from my OS (for security issues).

Any help would be appreciated. :(

You must be use "Play Now" to start your games. Use the "Custom Game" option. There are a number of game options in the bottom middle section. Scroll to the bottom and you will find the "Locked Modified Assets" checkbox. (The option will be remembered if you want to go back to using "Play Now" for your next game. ;))

Apologies if this has already been discussed on these pages but I have recently download the HOF Mod version 2.00.002.

When I install it by reloading Civ 4: Warlords, I can load up the game (e.g. WOTM2), I can see my warrior & settler there, and move them around. But nothing else. The screen is blank - no mini-maps, icons, etc. And if I hit Escape and select Options, it does nothing.

Has anyone else had this problem?

No one has reported a similar issue, IIRC. I would suggest starting a normal game with and without the mod to see if the we can isolate the problem a little. (You can load the mod from the Advanced menu.)

ainwood and Gyathaar have both seen the same thing. It was caused by a missing registry key. The mod requires "INSTALLDIR" under the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4 - Warlords" key to be set to the install dir. By default this would be "C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Warlords". Are you familiar enough with regedit to add this value to the registry?
