Are you guys familiar with a new science overflow bug in Warlords? It is reported in this bug report post and a fix for the bug is also available if you follow the link in that post. However, the fix cannot be applied directly to this mod as this mod has already changed the fixed dll-file.

Will you fix the bug or do you think it would change the game for the people using the mod in such a way that it is inapplicable for HOF-games? I hope that Firaxis will fix the bug themselves in their upcoming patch.
Thanks for the info. :goodjob: We will have to take a look at it to decide what we can/should do.

With version 1.3 the map finder will now run, but I am having a couple problems.

1) I change the directory in Map Finder over to my Civ4 Saves directory, but no games come up.

2) When I launch a game with the settings of Gauntlet 3, I get a not valid for HOF warning with instructions to see the settings screen, but there is no error indicated on the settings screen.

Denniz, thanks for your assistance.

What version of the HOF Mod are you using? If it isn't HOF-1.61.007 then you should download that.

Did you enable Map Finder? When you hit Alt-M it should display the paths it will use. Does it say what you think it should say? Are you seeing it saving any games?

(CivScale is the most common culprit.) Have you put any files in the HOF Mod folders? Any file can throw it off. Even a backup copy of the ini file. What does the Victory Screen Setting Tab say is wrong?

That's a lot of questions, huh? :D

When I hit Alt-M nothing happens. I tried this from inside a game loaded with the HOF mod.

I have not modified the Civ4 assets. At one point I did download and use Blue Marble and CivScale, but I did a reinstall due to conflict with GOTM. I have not added any files to the HOF folders. The date on the HOF-1.61.007 configuration file matches the current date and time, though I have not updated the file. It may be that launching the HOF mod does this.

I noticed that the HOF mod was loaded under Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Mods, whereas the map finder was loaded under My Documents\My Games. Could this be the reason the two are not communicating.

Did you check the option in the game options to turn it on? see pic.

Both are in the correct place. The game options control how they communicate.

If the above doesn't help you might want to turn on logging:
Code:
; Set to 1 for no python exception popups
HidePythonExceptions = 0

; Enable the logging system
LoggingEnabled = 1

; Overwrite old network and message logs
OverwriteLogs = 1

; Enable message logging
MessageLog = 1

Send the files in the My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\logs to hof@civfanatics.net if you get an error.

Re: 1.3 Map finder.

I was one of the ones with problems earlier, now it seems to work perfectly.

So well done in putting in the time and thought Denniz, much appreciated.

Cheers

Denniz, thank you. It looks like I am all up and running. I also checked Auto-logging in the Options screens. I do not know if that mattered, but I am not getting the "invalid for HOF" warning any more.
Glad to hear it. :goodjob:

Auto Log shouldn't affect anything one way or another. It is just logging of in-game events as an aid for players wanting to do writeups.

One thing that can cause the Invalid message is forgeting to check "Locked Modified Assets" which is a required option. Also there is a Civ4 bug that occasionally fails to create the CRCs. You should always check the Victory Screen Setting Tab for more information when you get the Invalid warning.

That's good. :) I will give it a few days and then change the main download page to use it.

Any comments/thoughts on the abbreviations?

Do you have an estimate of when .008 will be out? I'm holding off on HoF games until the whipping bug at marathon is fixed.

What is the fix for these two problems? I keep getting them. I do not play custom games but did read in another post that the "Lock Modified Assets" checkbox is in the custom game option on the main page. Do I have to check that box each time before I play from the "Play Now" option?

I also always get the "CRCs are missing" warning. What does that mean and how do I fix the problem?

Re: Lock Modified, if you check that, the game should save your settings so you don't have to check the box each time you start a new map.

I don't know about missing CRCs but you may try re-installing (if checking Lock Modified doesn't fix this problem).

As Robo Kai pointed out, once you set a game option it will be remembered. Locked Modified Assets is what tells Civ4 to generate the CRCs. The bug I was talking about is a rare occurance when Locked Modified Assets is checked. Usually starting a new game is all that is needed if you get that.

A new suggestion:
I would like to be able to run Map Finder and, at the same time, use my computer for other things. I have observed that when I ALT+TAB and start using another program, Map finder stops regenerating, only to keep on regenerating when I ALT+TAB back to CIV4.

Is it feasible?
Thanks for your time and dedication.

Unfortunately not. Civ4 doesn't update unless it has focus. That's something we can't change. Just leave it running when you're asleep :sleep:.
