Not sure if I should be posting this here, or on technical forums:
I went back to default settings on my computer. Now, I'm having problems running Civ 4. Took care of the problem loading shader libraries, and got it started. Somehow, my startup settings are gone, though, and it doesn't load 1.74.003 anymore(or windowed). So, I tried to "load a mod". No dice. It was an error that said something like
HOF Mod error: blah, blah, try a user account with admin rights....blah, blah...Vista...blah, blah
I don't have Vista. It's an XP machine. Never had this error message when I first started playing the game, way back. Did have many others.
How do I fix this?
I'm kind of unsure how the game is even there still on the C drive, after I did this to this laptop. Thought it would wipe that drive. But, odd it's still there with my settings all gone.
I am the admin on this machine, by the way. Do not believe it is set up like that, anyhow. But, maybe going to default changed some admin settings? Not sure how to even check that.
Edit: Tried again, after I edited my folder and added to load the Mod. Game says 1.74.003 is not a valid Mod, and it's ignoring it. Yet, it lets me start to load the Mod from in game. Got the error message again, though. Remembered more:
Says " Hof Mod error: Will not be able to save game and will not count toward HoF" Or something like that, then goes to the admin rights, etc.
Maybe just reinstall mod?
Edit 2: Alright...figured out I didn't have it listed in .ini file right. Got it right...but still getting the HoF Mod error. Each time I get it, I can remember more...wish I could copy it somehow.
It says " HOF MOD error: HOF Mod will be unable to save settings. Games will not be eligible for HOF or Game of the Month. Please log in with admin rights.
I am the admin for this laptop. I just went and double checked that....it seems right.
Help! Also, I did redownload and reinstall the mod, too.
