HOF Rules Discussion

A general rule I've tried to stick to when defining the rules is anything that allows counting your commerce (or food/production) more than once a turn is disallowed. If I understand this right, you are getting credit for commerce in beaker form, then getting credit for the same commerce in happy faces (towards score, but not disorder) too?

Aeson, I have a question I'm posting in my thread and here :

There is some scoring bug (C3C 1.22)... the "victory status" screen is showing 26090 as score, but the "score" screen is showing 26091...
When I go to the HoF screen (not in the forum, when the game ends), it is marked as 26090.

What should I submit??

I don't have access to Civ/PtW/C3C at all right now and can't do the game checking. So I'm not really sure when the next update will be.

Aeson.. I don't mean any offence, but...
we all know that there are many submissions, and it's almost 2 month now.
Now, it sounds as if you are busy with.. life! which is good.. ;) but we do need some timeframe if possible, and if not - it is also ok.

If you don't thinhk you have the time, perhaps there is someone in the forum you know who knows about your checking procedure, and can do it, even for a small amount of time.. ?

Again, just worrying that the next update will never come.. and also worrying about the complex and tiresome process it is and who will ever do it if not you?? (SQL / checking / utilities / time)

Personally, I'm still fighting myself on PTW deity/tiny.
Yesterday, I beat my own new #1 by 11 points.. but that is still not what I had in mind for a #1 :crazyeye:

I wonder if this hasn't been discussed somewhere before, but I don't care to scroll through this whole thing again. Are Vanilla and PTW 20k victories recorded in the HoF with C3C 20k victories? And, I realize this discussion has been had elsewhere, at least in the GOTM forums, but should SGLs really be allowed in 20k attempts. There is no skill that I see in getting an SGL in 2000 BC and rushing the Pyramids or the Colossus. It just means someone got really lucky.

Even with Pyramids in 3000 BC, I don't think it's possible to beat a PTW 20k date. :p

Of course luck is a big factor, but bad luck can always be overcome by trying enough starts.

Yeah, I realized that it would be pretty much impossible to beat a PTW 20k done be a someone good at leader farming.

And I was hoping that simply playing a lot of games wasn't the best way to get over it, though I figured that that was the answer.

See my thread in the HoF discussion.
Using Great Leaders in C3C (one lucky one at start basically) I made the quickest 20k by 10 turns, and working on better.
I'm not saying I or someone else couldnt do better in PTW.
The fact is that at lower difficutly levels, scientific leaders are way easier to get than military leaders, at least at the very start which is the most important part.
A 20k game is basically complete by the end of middle ages, and the most important part is the ancient age.

Actually, I am not sure if 20k games from PTW are included in the HoF anymore. I read a game about a 15someting win on Diety in PTW, which can't be matched in Conquests. And the game is not in the HoF.

Do you know if it was ever on the HOf?
Did they ever clear the Hof?

Btw I submitted a 1455 AD 20 K on regent with conquests.
While I propably wouldnt be able to beat the 15something win on Deity if it is true, on lower setting Conquest 20 K can compete with PTW no problem.

I have a question for Aeson.
I remember reading (I think in this thread Im too lazy to check) that youre not allowed to submit more than 2 games per difficulty setting per type of victory.
DO you think we could add per map size, since that is one of the way to sorts the map, it would allow to be on all different sortings for example (Im not sure Im being clear...)

Per map size already is, I think. boogaboo has two entries on most levels for conquest on tiny and small maps. The thread I was talking about was in this forum for HoF attempts, so I assume it was submitted. I suggested that it might have been cleared, so I can't answer that question. And I am following your thread, so you don't need to mention it in every post outside your thread you make in response to something I say.

PTW & Vanilla Civ games can be submitted to the HOF.

However, since the HOF hasn't been updated since July 1 (!), they may only be accepting Civ 4 games when the update happens! groucho

Yeah the map size seems to make sens to me.
Well since you were talking about 20 K wins, I thought my comments did have something to do with the subject.
If you think it's inappropriate, I'll try to refrain from mentionning the other thread...

Deity HoF game in PTW, but not in HoF

This thread is in the HoF. The game is not. I realize that PTW and Vanilla are both included in most areas if not all, and I am questioning the possible distinction. LulThyme, sorry if that sounded rude, but this has almost been a private conversation between the two of us, and you know I am following your thread so I didn't see the need for a reference to it a second time. But my comment on that was unnecessary.
