Hi, I've added the Holy Roman Empire, with the Carolingian Renaissance as the Unique Trait and the Holy Roman Landsknecht (+1 Sight and +2 Combat over the German Landskencht) and Cuirassier (+1 Combat and 30% City Bonus over the Cavalry) as the the UUs.

Nice addition! :goodjob:

The text has some error though: Charlemagne was crowned emperor of the Frankish empire, not the Holy Roman Empire (which resulted from the partitions after his death out of the East Frankish kingdom). Also nation-states are a 19th century phenomenon, none were around in the Middle Ages.

Thanks Jeelen! He was indeed King of the Franks, but also Emperor of the Romans thanks to Pope Leo in 800; I'll clarify that. Nation-states... I'll replace with the phrase... kingdoms or city-states!

Nice of you to create this Civ. To tell the truth i'm not a fan of it, i find it to be strange to have Holy Roman Empire in Germany in the same game, but that's personal opinion.

Well, he was crowned Roman Emperor, not Holy Roman Emperor, a title that was created in 962 when it was bestowed on Otto I.

EDIT: Not to be a nit-picker.

This mod looks very nice, though!

Thanks! Emperor of the Romans, not Emperor of the Holy Romans... hm... still Charlemagne is closer to the Holy Romans than the Romans of antiquity. Guess he can still be an honourary Holy Roman Emperor lol :D

Right. For all intents and purposes, it can be seen as the start of the HRE, but just technically Charlemagne was Roman emperor, not Holy Roman.

I agree with you regarding the fact that Charlemagne better represents the HRE than RE.

Maybe Charles V would make a good alternate leader, or Frederick Barbarossa?

I created a Knight templar unit so if you want to add it to your mod... :)

You can find it in the database or following the link in my sig

If anything, the +2 culture should be removed at the start of Renaissance. After all, the Holy Roman empire was done with the conquer of Europe by Turks in 1500's
