Description/History: While on paper the CEF is simply another wing of the UNAMSEC, the CEF is in reality a completely separate operation. Launched following the annexation of Alaska, and at roughly the same time as the western UNAMSEC, the CEF was labelled as a 'stabilising operation' by the Canadian government, with the official goal being to bring order along the International Boundary. Critics in Canada, states-side and overseas argue that the CEF is wholly unnecessary, and a blatantly cynical land grab by the Canadian government. Indeed, there have been reports of harsh treatment of the local Wisconsinites by Canadian troops, and it is well known that large numbers of civilian Canadian citizens have crossed the border to set up settlements or take over empty municipalities. More worrying are rumours that Ottawa may be already loosing its grip on the operation, having given too much independent power to Lieutenant General Simonds and his officers, many of whom are veterans of the last European War.

I see the Dakotas are no longer the only new state to use the Canadian dollar. :)

Just to clarify any confusion that might arise now that there is a Canadian state in the game - the Dakota revolutionaries did not receive official support from the Canadian government or anything like that. It was just that they had a hard time getting hold of supplies in the US during the civil war so they got most of what they needed from across the border instead.

For the record, I'm assuming people on the Canadian Dollar can't engage in monetary policy.

Sone said on chat that he will be back in a few days (3 or 7).

I added Internal Borders to the rules, because some events have popped up that have resulted in annexations of parts of neighboring provinces. Hoping to update this weekend.

THE TIMES OF AMERICA

YEAR IN REVIEW 1954

THE AMERICAN DREAM. Topeka, Kansas Khanate. The Kansas Khanate presents an interesting, and some would say desirable, alternative to the great liberal Eastern markets, reactionary South, and Wild West. European political theorists have spilled much ink debating the role the Kansas Khanate, with its mixture or warlordism but “great personal freedom” will play in the future of the continent. However, on the ground, even if people do not like the arrangement, they’re not actively resisting it either. [+5% Productivity Bonus]

FIRST MEETING OF THE AFRICAN NATIONAL CONGRESS.[/B} Montgomery, Confederate State of Alabama. The first meeting of the African National Congress met in Montgomery, Alabama, despite threats by white supremacists of directed violence against participants. The African National Congress calls for non-violent resistance to entrenched discriminatory practices in the Confederacy and has broad support among middle-class and upper-class negroes living not just in the Confederacy, but across the country.

The African National Congress is based in New York City and the meeting was chaired by Ronald Parks, a prominent poet and writer who emigrated from the South during the 1930s. When the meeting was announced in late-1953, local politicians immediately moved to squash it, with only ample international pressure allowing the meeting to continue. The eyes of the international media were brought to bear on Montgomery thanks to the efforts of Ronald Parks whirlwind tour through Europe and Africa in the early part of 1954.

BOMBINGS IN WISCONSIN TARGET CANADIAN SETTLERS. Madison, Canadian Expeditionary Force Forward Zone. Over a thousand are dead and injured following an intense campaign of terror bombings targeting Canadian settlers and business owners in the province. The bombings have been tied to a coalition of Pan-America organizations designated “enemy non-combatants” by the CEF. The attacks have led to reprisals and hostage taking by military police forces.

COMMUNIST PARTY OF FLORIDA STAGES MARCH IN MIAMI. Miami, Confederate State of Florida. Thousands turned out to witness or participate in a labor march in honor of the 4th American Battalion, a volunteer battalion of leftists, socialists, and communists that participated in the German Civil War on the side of the KPD.

“For every German Revolution in which the worker loses, there is a Virginia!” One of the speakers proclaimed.

MINNESOTANS LOOK WEST AND EAST. Rochester, Minneapolis. Minnesotans are breathing a sigh of relief. Bordering neither theocrats, Confederates, or a glorified biker gang, Minnesotans feel optimistic that the future will be a’okay! [+2% point Savings]

Notes

1. Internal provinces called off.
2. Everybody’s capital stock is stagnating and will stagnate for most of the game because there simply isn’t enough investment to keep starting stocks where they are. This is intentional. Everybody’s unemployment rates are nil at game start.
3. Food prices will continue spiraling upward for a while, even as “luxury” demand for food decreases because of New York and California.
4. Rising food prices means less luxury spending, which is decreasing consumer spending and investment, which is having ripple effects across the game economy. This can be countered by…
5. Improving infrastructure is relatively cheap right now for everybody. You can partial build infrastructure.
6. You can partial build non-land units.

Units can be used the turn they're built. Units attacking/defending the turn they're built suffer a combat penalty, larger if attacking.

Do you have any states left? if not, can you create more?

When are orders due?

I don't really understand the military spending side of this. If I for example would like to have, say, Infantry units for $1,800,000. How much infantry is that? I suppose 1 unit = $900,000 (all prices seem to be the same for everyone currently) but how many brigades and manpower does one unit equal? Am I even right about the units? I'm a little lost here.

TheConfederateFlag.gif

Governor of the Confederate State of Florida and speaker of the Floridan Confederate Congress LeRoy Collins made a public appearance today in front of the Miami-Dade County Courthouse and riled the populace with a hate speech on the matter of increased false Americans and the coloured rooting down in the United Southern Confederacy. amongst the topics mentioned was the laziness and general lack of respect towards their betters from non-ethnic Americans towards true white Americans within the state borders, and that these individuals should show greater amounts of gratitude towards the privileges and freedoms they have here in comparison with their lesser home-nations.

Additionally, the Governor publicly condemns the political views of New York's President; Jessica Verona as well as her allies, calling them "vicious agents of communism whose foreign policies and love towards the Mandingo race defiles the very essence of the American dream." and that "-as long as these devils in the North continue to violate the portrait of our great nation, the states will never be united. the South will never return to the fold so long as the North continues with their degrading pro-socialist agendas."
