How about THIS for liquid cooling?

I never thought I'd see something like this.

The amount of work and dedication shown is amazing. I can see how well it works, but with all that liquid in there, it must be very heavy!
A heck of a mod indeed. All is needed are some more powerful fans and the liquid will circulate and help even more with cooling.

very impressive  the amount of time/effort and planning that must have went into that to get it to work........ very clever.

My first thought was..........could you put fish in there?? then I realised it's a kind of oil but the thought of having fish floating about inside your computer does sound kinda cool.

I think I'll stick to my old method of cooling...... having my girlfriend sit beside my computer and fan it with a towel :)

They would conduct electricity and shorten the thing

Fish would drown in Mitel fluid. No dissolved oxygen in there.

Maybe, but even if there is dissolved oxygen in their, poor fishes will slowly boil anyway.

Large power transformers are commonly cooled with mineral oil, so why not home PC's? BTW, slashdot first had an article on immersion cooling 6 years ago.

yes I am aware that no fish could survive, that was why it was my "first thought", when I read more about the article I discovered the details.

Does it say anything about how much it does to cool the computer? I glanced at it but never got an answer

The liquid on it's own doesn't cool down the computer.

Notice the big fins at the back? They are there to radiate the heat.

Must get warm in there.

That is pretty cool. Though it must be a pain lugging around a 95 lb computer.

It is a highly detailed modification, but it is not the earliest example of submerged liquid cooling.

Must be hell to add RAM to that box.
