How are trait building/unit build bonuses applied?

I find it's not completely clear how these are applied to your production.
Expansive for example, gives you a 25% production bonus towards workers.

I know you get the bonus :hammers: if they come from actual tiles worked, I assume rounded down

Do :hammers: from whipping get this bonus?
Do :hammers: from chopping get this bonus?
Do you get this bonus from surplus :food: into settlers/workers?
If you build something and get overflow into a worker, does the overflow get this bonus?
If you finish a worker and get overflow, does that overflow still get the bonus into whatever you build next?

etc. etc. etc.

Probably missing some scenarios too

Thanks

As far as I know:

Do :hammers: from whipping get this bonus?
Yes

Do :hammers: from chopping get this bonus?
Yes

Do you get this bonus from surplus :food: into settlers/workers?
No

If you build something and get overflow into a worker, does the overflow get this bonus?
Yes

If you finish a worker and get overflow, does that overflow still get the bonus into whatever you build next?
No

From your questioning I suspect you were already assuming these answers ;)

This is why you almost always try to stack your overflow into whatever gets the bonus-be it a worker, settler, or a wonder. If you're industrious, failgold pays out 50% more commerce than building wealth. You can really use that to your advantage.

Bonuses are indeed rounded down. If a city building an Expansive worker doesn't generate a multiple of 4:hammers: (whether due to tiles, overflow, Engineer specialists, chops, or whatever else that isn't excess :food: converted into :hammers:) you're effectively wasting a fraction of a hammer (4×1.25=5:hammers: flat, 5×1.25=6.25 gets rounded down to 6:hammers:, etc). Keep an eye on, for example, a 1:hammers: city building workers that can share tiles to make sure that that city isn't working a 2:hammers: tile when it could steal another city's 3:hammers: tile and get another :hammers: from EXP.
