How bad can a civ runaway

There really is no reason to be so competitive about whose runaway is better than whose.

My runaway can beat up your runaway!

They tend to end up the same way if they aren't human... and thousands of years from that event, people will wonder what the Struggle of Titans was like while they themselves struggle to {re}discover Bronze Working :D

I don't remember the exact numbers, but I do remember Hiawatha hitting the Modern era once when everybody else was still in the Medieval, on Epic speed.

I have a theory - if Alex starts off next to Hiawatha, there is more than 70% chance Hiawatha will die

After the fall patch the civs I find myself needing to keep an eye on are Hiwatha (as usual) and then city spammers like Napoleon and Caesar actually.. the spamming of cities that I sometimes see is frustratingly stupid from those =P

I always play pangaea, btw.

I had a game where Alex and Hiawatha were neighbors. The Indian was the winner in mine.

As in Gandhi was in the middle and ended up conquering both ? :)
Not plausible -

I named Hiawatha, erroneously, the Indian. I have never seen Ghandi lead a successful war so far.

I had figured it out - i just thought funny of gandhi ever conquering anyone, specially those 2

It would be interesting if there is a way to make two AIs fight to the death while I, as the player, take popcorn and observe the whole thing.

This is actually something I miss - I would love to watch all the others' wars. :) I get some glimpses when ally CS fight someone else, but it really depends on visible hexes I guess.

Maybe we need an "Embedded Media" Wonder so we can civ watch wars like entertainment and call it news? With a bonus Information Minister called Comical Ali to interpret a turn's war events? :)

I mean, every game got one or two civ running away in size, science or else... but what is the worst you have ever faced as such ?

In a recent game, I received a notification that Korea completed Manathan Project in 1640....... std speed ! Have anyone else noticed some terrible threatenning runnay as such ?

Playing as Austria for the tech/domination win, difficulty of 6. Found writing in a ruin at 3800 BC marathon speed, got great library and oxford so i think im way ahead on techs. around the 13th century i get surpassed in tech and land by an unmet player, later I find out its Rome as Augustus enters Atomic era in 17 century, me in modern. I organized all my allied annexed the closest costal city state to his distant capitol ferried my airforce with one carrier across the huge 22 player map, the declared war. almost lost my foothold on the city state, won through my use of intercepting airforce and submarines, 50 turns later I took Rome with great war bombers while he paraded around rocket artillery. I caught up in techs after cutting the head off the snake and then lost in the 20th century to theodora with the culture victory!

another story of austria in the industrial era and with her own continent by 13th century... I just quit, nothing you can do to stop that

Well at least the game is realistic, because the Native American society was known for it's overwhelming dominance - just look at them today.

Gandhi is one of the top warmongers in my games. He usually rallies 2 or 3 comrades to aid him in his wars and then goes out to roflstomp an unfortunate AI guy (usually Ghengis or some other early warmonger) and usually succeeds to take one or two cities, crippling them. This is observed on King difficulty btw.

I had the most amazing start and hoped to finally be able to achieve something on deity. Rich lands, only one neighbour and loads of empty space for future settling. A map worth replaying should I fail with it. Sadly, I was not the only one with opportunities. On turn 114 this message popped up.

The tech monster turned out to alexander on another continent who settled just about everything. I gave up and let songhai destroy me just to be able to see the replay.
