I can't seem to make more than half of my citizens to be happy in order to get the "We Love the King" event. I relieve them from work to become entertainers, but I still don't get as many happy citizens as content citizens / specialists. Do I need certain city improvements? Or is it because I'm still under a Monarchy? I have temples, but they seem to just make unhappy citizens content and not make content citizens happy.

Put your luxury rate up. And it depends on what kind and how many city improvements you have

It isn't really worth getting the celebration when you are in the gov't Monarchy. Atleast not when you have to go out of your way to do so. Wait for that when you have reached Democracy, the "We Love the ..." gives you a free citizen in that city every turn. One way you can get the celebration though is to get the Hanging Gardens. That gives you one extra happy citizen per city.

Aaah, yes, Sun Tzu, I have forgotten about the luxury rate because I just maxed my science rate and left the remaining to tax rate.

What are the benefits of the "We Love The King" events with other goverment types? In democracies you get an extra citizen. How about others like Fundamentalism, Monarch, Republic, Communism?

Yes, crank that luxury rate right up. I am currently playing a game in which i have increased my population by 25% in a matter of ten turns or so with the wltkd. What I did in this game was built up a huge surplus of money through trading and then set luxuries up to 50% and taxes down to zero. This of course would eventually deplete my treasury completely, but by the end of next round, all 30 cities (or so) of mine were celebrating and growing. With this act alone, I got myself back into the game. After I grew as far as my treasuries could stand, I switched the tax back up to where I was making a profit again and am currently saving up for another big burst.

As far as other benefits go, besides the pop. increase, I don't think there are any. You'll probably increase your approval rating, but that's about it.

So, does that mean no matter what government you're under, the result of the "We Love The King Day" is an increase in population? That would be really handy. I didn't dare to try it since I'm still in Monarchy.

I think so... if you get too much beyond that it turns the money into beakers... once got 30 Future Tech advances in one turn that way....

monarchy/communism/fundy-collect resources as if Republic. No pop growth.

Despotism-collect resources as if monarchy

Thanks Smash, that's exactly what I was looking for! I spent like half an hour experimenting with it, but I only managed to find out for Communism (my govt was Communism).
