Many times at the beginning of the game there are long stretches when nothing important is happening and I want the game to continue to play until something significant happens. What I mean is that I'm sick of pressing "enter" over and over. Is there any way to to make the game continue for multiple turns?

Also, is there anyway to turn off the sounds/notice of "We love the king"?

Under options you can uncheck "Wait for end of turn". I use to do that until approx 2000 bc when i have a second city + some units.

I did that, but it still waited at the end of every turn. Granted I had a scout running around so maybe the game stops every time you discover a new square?

just move your scout with the Go-To button so he is set to travel several squares. otherwise if there are any units requiring instructions, of course you have to click something.
frankly I don't see this hitting next turn as a big problem -- there should not be that many turns where you are doing nothing, otherwise you are doing something wrong. this game is about management of your empire and it needs you to actually be playing it, not watching

I agree with Llama Cat...there are very few times, even early on, where you are doing nothing. To become a good player, which I am not but striving to become, you really have to micromanage.

Even with my scout on auto-explore, my game still makes me hit endturn (yes, with the box unchecked).

Actually, I just started a new game. Plopped my city down in place, selected bronzeworking tech, worker build, deleted my warrior (so I have 0 units). Went to options and unchecked "wait at end of turn". Hit EoT. Game takes 1 turn and stops. Hit EoT again. Yup, 1 turn.

If you do nothing for a turn (move no units or they're on auto-explore) then the game will make you hit "Enter" to go to the next turn, even if you've unchecked "wait at end of turn". Otherwise, many turns could zoom by in a row without giving you the option of doing anything.

yes, that option in the settings is not what you think. this game requires your approval to "move ahead" otherwise you could get screwed without the option to make key decisions. I won't even begin to give examples because there could be hundreds even in the first dozen turns.

edit: FYI I believe one time I accidentally set up a game where all players are the AI, and had to sit there watching an entire game or boot out. I think this option is available if you begin a game in Custom Game settings?? anyway not sure what the point of it is, but an interesting side-note ;)
