how do you leave the UN

i have played without diplomatic victory, and the UN wonder did not appear to be buildable.

I wonder if anyone has done the same?

yes, I have done the same, many times.. if diplomatic victory is unchecked, you CANNOT BUILD THE UNITED NATIONS

it even says so in the civilopedia, I think.. but I've played several games with conquest as the only victory condition, and the UN was never built in any of them (even in games with 3+ teams), and I was unable to build it either.. so it wasn't just not built out of preference either

perhaps there is another option I'm missing, not sure how these people are able to build the UN without a diplomatic victory checked.. either something is amiss, or people are just assuming without trying it

In the dip victory there should be an option to contest it like in SMAC, half of the world going to war against the other half :P

As the others said, if you turn diplomatic victory off then the UN cannot even be built, and there is no voting at all.

I actually like the idea of the UN, but what i despise is that we only have a choice of those select civics. If the UN is the mother of all democratic institutions since the whole world can vote, then why the hell cant we vote for Organized Religion rather than Free Religion!?!? Why are we forced to vote for only those specific civics?

I want to see all the civics listed in there, plus alot more things we can vote for.. Such as we all vote to do an economic (no trade) embargo on another nation :D

Same here.

I'd also like to have it in the game, but NOT allow the diplomatic victory.

*edit* oil for food, peacekeeping missions, there's some cool modding to be done with the UN I think.
