How Gypsy gangs use child thieves

I've visited Prague. Didn't see any Gypsies there, although on my first day some pickpocket stole a bag with an old leftover of a sausage in it. I hope he enjoyed it.

In Ekaterinburg, Gypsy women numerous times wanted me to let them predict my future for money. I always decline with a lightly mocking politeness.
There's a good chance that pickpocket was a Gypsy in disguise. They're wily.

Might be. I didn't see him taking the bag, of course.

And in regards to the wide situation with Gypsies - yeah, something ought to be done with the parents. Especially if they do that:
and many are beaten by their minders if they do not return with money.

Seems to be a situation with no harmless ways to solve it. Your typical poverty cycle + ethnocultural divide.

So, what areas should the killsats glass to take care of them?

Rambuchan once suggested moving them all back to India. I still support that motion :mischief:
Give them Pakistan. Not like the locals are doing much with it. Besides, I look forward to the day the Gypsies somehow steal a nuke and sell it to Bulgaria.

As a side note the amount of petty theft is Europe in actually much, much bigger than the one in Rio or anywhere in Brazil. When in Madrid some kid tried to steal my laptop inside the freakin' hotel restaurant, and in the Paris subway some girl tried to pick my wallet from inside my pocket! In Rio they'd get beaten to death for that; if you want to rob someone at least have the courtesy of using some firepower.

Yeah, in my four weeks in Rio the housekeeper of my host got robbed with a gun put to her head and my friend got robbed on open street. Apart from that - great town :)

edit: excluding all the favellas/poor people and thus 5 metre fences in front of every appartment building ofcourse.

See, in Europe things are done in a civilized way - without violence :D

Seriously, it's not as if Czechs weren't stealing bastards, but there is this stereotype here that petty theft is common in Southern European countries.

When I was in Italy on a school trip, several hotel rooms in which my class was staying got burgled (is that the right English word? You have so many related to stealing [I wonder why :mischief: ] and I am not sure I understand all their uses) and I've heard many stories from my friends about how they got robbed in Italy, so maybe the stereotype isn't entirely unfounded... :)

I didn't say you don't get robbed here - I said robbers have the decency to at least put a gun to your head while doing so.

PS1: Favelas only have one "l".
PS2: I don't where the hell you stayed in Rio (maybe in a favela? Europeans are crazy), but I have never seen any apartment building with a "5 meters fence". The one I live in has no fence and a glass door...

From my experience petty theft is common in all Europe, but above all Italy and Spain. And gypsies do seem to be to blame a disproportionate amount of times.

What shocked me the most as a Brazilian is how bold the thieves are. Trying to steal inside the hotel restaurant? Here the security would drag the little bastard to some back alley and hurt him so bad he'd never rob again, that's why people don't even bother to try. Generally speaking your pockets are safer in Rio than in any major european city (the ones I've been to, anyway). As for your head, kind of the opposite.

I wouldn't think it would be too hard to figure out the individuals who are forcing these kids to steal, and then those individuals can be prosecuted. It's really sad what poverty leads to.

If I posted this article, I'd be called a racist in the very next post

The intent of an OP goes a long way towards determining the reaction to it.
