How many temples & cathedrals do you build

many people build more of them with a religious civ cos there quiker to build but i build as many as i can especially in the big cities as they have a lot of people in if you build the oracle and the sistine chapel that helps as well they also contribute a lot to a cultural win

Temples in everything - it's my first priority after a defensive unit. Cathedrals in every city over a pop of 5 or so, usually.

I build temples/cathedrals in big productive cities if they're needed for happiness (obviously if I have 8 luxuries with a market no need for them). I also build temples if I am a religious or non-scientific civ in border cities under risk of flipping (if I'm a scientific non-religious civ I build libraries instead).

If I am religious, temples in every city and cathedrals in the big ones. I also aim for the Sistene Chapel. I like Japan and Aztecs because they have military AND religion.

I make a barracks.
Then a spearman.
Then a temple.

Unless I can expand, then I don't make temples. You don't worry about happiness if you cities are small and are making settlers.

After that, I make archers or horsemen and occasionally workers. I like veteran units more than regulars.

I build both in every city without exception. The queue order vis other improvement will vary depending on whether I'm at war or not, but I find they help keep my invariably riot-prone population under control.

Additionally I pretty much always build or take the Sistine Chapel, making this a no-brainer.

I build temples in all of my cities no matter what to help culture and overcrowding happiness problems. In my bigger cities, I build cathedrals, say anything above sive 12.

Temples - ALL cities, religious civ or not
Cathedrals - ALL cities if religious or I get Sistine Chapel. Otherwise, only in larger cities. I build them before marketplaces; I prefer the music notes to gold, which I squeeze out of the AI.

Temples in all cities always. Whenever I capture a city, I'll have it start building a temple immediately, and after the initial landgrapomania it's the first thing I build in any new cities I may found (defenders are built in older cities and walked to the new ones).

Cathedrals depend on how much luxuries I have, but I rarely build them in towns, and try to have one in each metropolis.

first defence, then additional defence or temple, depending on the situation. cathedral when everything else has been built, or when rioting gets out of hand for my special trained police force
