The reason I have decided to poll this question is that in the recent weeks and days I have noted a significant increase in the number of times I hear a police siren. In fact now I hear it every day. So it would be interesting to hear how often people hear them.
If you have noted an increase please elaborate on it in a post.

almost never- this is despite the fact a police officer (no idea wht his spefic job is though), and his wife live only a few houses away from mine...

I live in Oslo, and I guess I hear sirens several times a week - at least that's what I voted. Now - I am not sure if they're police sirens, might be fire engines and ambulances sometimes.

To those of you that do not know Oslo - tis the Capital of Norway :p I guess that would explain the amount of sirens.

back in my house in the city at least twice a day.

Now that I live in dorm, once every few of days.

Several times a day for me. I live on a big street with four lanes so ambulance, fire trucks and police cars come and go on my street night and days.
I don't mind it as I'm used to it by now. It's worst in the summer when I sleep with the windows open and i ear all the noise coming down from the strret. But winter is coming so...

I work in a downtown hospital, sirens are part of the job.

I live near downtown, so I hear sirens quite a bit. Some weeks more than others.

Several times a day.

I live in semi-rural South-East England and so I don't hear sirens at all. In fact, there only time I have heard a siren is when there is a crash at the local historical airfield, which has been increasing at an alarming rate in recent months.

At home: About once a week. I hear fire trucks and ambulances about once a day. Although the cops did come to our block a few days ago. There was a fight next door, sounded more like a rape to me. Very scary. Seemed like it was broken up before anything bad happened though.

At shool: About once a day. Its in Manhattan, what do you expect?

a few of my neighbors are old ladies with one foot already in the grave, and since I live in a hick town our police force does nothing but drive around town all day in there nice cars so since they do no actual work they usually run to the rescue whenever the old people have a problem(fall down heart attack whatever they do) as well as our ambulance. So on average i hear there sirens at least once a week

Almost never; I live in South Dakota, where big news is someone spray-painting "KKK" on a wall. :p

Around my home, maybe a couple times a day, if I were to spend all day here. However, police presence is very lax in my area.

Over the course of a normal day, I may hear it several more times, especially since my college is almost right next to the City police headquarters.

around once a day, but sometimes a lot more. and by once a day I mean once a night. my dorm is too far from any main roads for me to hear police sirens here so I only notice them when I'm going somewhere, and it's too hot to go for long walks during the day....

I hear them too often where I live.... Moscow, Idaho! I hear them at least twice a day, but then again it is a college town.
