How often do you violate ceasefires in Civilization games?

Do you even sign ceasefires with opposing Civilizations?

I use ceasefires in Civ, as does the AI, to spend a couple turns replenishing units. We still use spies during this period however, without worry of causing an incident. Our Freight is also able to to move through during ceasefires. I usually only sign ceasefires after I have the advantage against the enemy. How about you?

ceasefire's in Rome Total war are bogus.

Hey thracians, look, i got this elite legionary army under the command of my new brand young 5 star emperor. but i want to go piss off carthage a bit. look, a ceasefire offer after i exterminated your capital.

just accept and i won't attack

oh you accepted?

jolly good

next turn

oh there you are again, besieging that puny poop city again while my army is at the core fo your empire.

oh boy, you really need to learn how to paly, right?

now now, calm down.

ok, you accepted again

tschuss!

next turn

oh there you are again doing the exact same

that's it.

*assassinates thracian faction leader*

alliance?

ok, jolly good

next turn

you..attacked...again...

and now the germans are in too

that's it barbs, i'll be a mountain upon your corpses.

oh and in civ, i never declare ceasefires. it's annexation, vassilization or nothing.

I don't play civ. I do however, violate ceasefires.
Dammit, stole the joke I formulated upon seeing this thread, a good two hours before I saw it.

The poll is terrible, there's no "Occasionally," or "Sometimes," which are the categories I'd likely fall into. I don't do it often, but if it's to my benefit, I will.

Oh so firing rockets do not count as violating a cease-fire?
Of course not, you Zionist pig. This is totally absolutely 100% Israel's fault.

I'm talking about extending the thread, fool. Not the arguments either way. Do try to keep up. Sheesh.

Like phil said, RTW (which is what I play more often) ceasefires (and even alliances) are a load of crap. Pretty much the only way to really keep somebody from attacking you is to use the RomeShell to move a character off to Ireland or something to keep them useless. This is how I manage ahistorical AI expansion if I am feeling realistic that day.

In Civilization games, I don't stop wars that I start unless it involves utterly annihilating my enemy or vassalizing same, since I don't play on higher difficulty levels anymore and thus don't really need to worry about warring for money or techs.

Because you think saying that Palestinians firing rockets is a violation of the cease-fire is not the epitome of thread extension? I could relive any dead thread with that!

I violate women more frequently than I violate ceasefires.
That would be more impressive if I didn't know you've never violated a ceasefire.

Kill two birds with one stone and attack Elizabeth.

I choose, "Only when I want to speed up the game up at the end."

Otherwise, I do my best to honor them.

which reminds me, why did they make the biggest whore in byzantium as leader for in the civgame?
Only in C3C. And yes: it is a mystery. She was pretty vindictive too, sadly, and probably had a big part of the prolonging of the Gothic war. I'm glad they did a bit better with the selection for CIV.

I'm more likely to get you to think I'm going to violate a cease-fire, then use your reaction to my advantage. I've won more wars by honoring my contracts than otherwise.

Admittedly, sometimes I don't bother with cease-fires :mwaha:

there is something satisfying though in getting a ceasefire-offer, decline it, nuke them to oblivion, making sure every little single space is fallout, and then ask for peace. :D
