Yes, this is very good. We were getting off-topic, but now if someone can find the 1st Edition Rules, we can get some actual stats on Satan to really answer the question of how powerful he is.

On the contrary, this actually relates to the OP more than endless discussions of the existence of God . . .

Believing in the existence of something supernatural, invisible, and never observed & documented is not as reasonable as believing in the existence of the Universe, which we all experience every day.

QED.
I disagree that God has allowed Himself to be completely unknown to us. And anyway, believing that He does exist is no more absurd than many of the things which everyone (Including yourself) accept every day, despite their inherent unprovability.

Anyway, this is pretty pointless - you haven't said anything new in a page or two, so if you have anything else you want to say, any last parting shot which is less clever than you think, nows the time.

Wrong. Vāhigurū is the creator.
I didn't know you were a Sikh. ;)

I've got Deities and Demigods (the ancient 1st edition AD&D rules version). What stats do you need?
<snip>

Thanks, brings back old memories :) Funny that you knew the Demon I was talking about that kinda represents Satan (Demogorgon). If Satan has Orca's Mace/staff, however, he will pwn all. Also, I think demogorgon can cast temporal stasis at will (1 segment, no save). That could be a problem even with high resistance.

Level 20 illusionist + level 15 assassin = Odin dead before roll for inniative. Even if he makes his resistance roll against the illusionist spell(s), the assassin backstab on an unaware/sleeping opponent is still possible and will be the end of him.

ps. What up with the level 5 monk + bard? Kinda pointless, yes?

Well, I went and got Monster Manual 1st edition.

Asmodeus seems to be the Satan guy... he's a weakling with 199hp, AC-7, #ATT 1 (Dmg 4-14), 90% Magic Resistance, but has a rod that can shoot fire, acid or lightning, as dragon breath, so I guess that means 199 damage or 99 if a save is made... which is pretty good, and so could ex Loki in 4 rounds and Odin in 5 assuming they don't heal themselves (which they can't do since they are "warlike" apparently).

Baalzebul is less powerful, 166hp, AC -5, #ATT 1, Dmg 2-12 plus poison (doesn't say what the effect is, I'm guessing death if no save), 85% magic resistance. If he looks at you, and you don't save vs. magic, you collapse trembling until 1-4 minute after he stops looking at you.

Which ancient Sumerian Deity did Ghostbusters beat up on?

EDIT: Demogorgon is the top demon, he's not the devil. He's harder than Asmodeus (200hp and AC -8), but his attacks are pretty much useless against other deities/demigods. His tail which drains 1-4 levels is about the only thing he can do and I don't know if Odin et. al will be immune to those sort of shenanigans.

I'm not a Sikh, but I have talked to their God and am convinced that he exists & has created the Universe. I do not follow him though, so I'm not Sikh.
I thought you were an avowed atheist?

Heh, wasnt that Gozer the Gozerian?

Hey! Can you thiests/athiests keep it down? We're trying to answer the OP here. :mischief:

Gozer ain't in the Sumerian section of Deities and Demigods I'm afraid. The only evil Sumerian Deity listed is Inanna, she's the goddess of war and love (WTH??), she has more hp than Loki but nothing in her stats screamed pwnage to me.

Can you get stats on the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man?

What planet are you on? Mr. Stay Puft doesn't really exist, that would be silly ;)

They did release a Ghostbusters pencil and paper RPG in the 80s. Maybe someone who has that can help out...

Bah...do you have the Dieties and Demigods version that had the Cuthulu and Melnibonian mythos?

If so, check out some of the Old Ones stats (Cuthulu, for example) and/or some of the Chaos gods of Elric of Melnibone.

Yeah, I've got it, but the stats are kind of hard to translate to D&D, since there aren't any classic D&D monsters in the Ghostbusters bestiary to compare to.
Spoiler :

Still, I think it's fair to guess that Satan can't be more than 10x more powerful than Gozer, right? So with 40 proton packs Satan oughta be toast.

(Maybe the Vatican could supply a few barrels filled with Holy Water so that at the same time someone could firehose Satan with the Wrath of God while he's being fried by the proton inversion beams)

Yes, this would be a good comparison. Satan must have lower stats than Cthulhu, since it's obvious that Cthulhu will pwn pretty much anyone unlucky enough to cross his/its/--- path.

Nope, that was Legends & Lore, they had some legal issues about Cthulhu and Moorcock's universe and dropped them for the renamed Deities and Demigods.

I have got the Stormbringer RPG, in fact I'm using the book as my mouse mat! Elric (well Stormbringer) pwns all.

It's based on Runequest, so here goes:

Elric:

STR 5 (12 with stormbringer), CON 5 (12 with Stormbringer), SIZ 15, INT 25, POW 35, DEX 20, CHA 25, hp 15.

Stormbringer stats: Attk 112% Parry 98%, Damage 2-16 + 3-18 + 1-6 plus drain 1-100 POW (so basically, if you are hit, you die, and your soul is absorbed). Every 10 POW absorbed Stormbringer can either add 2% to attack or 1 to Elric's STR and CON.

So basically, don't mess with Elric. He did kill all the chaos gods and destroy the world though.

I've got Call of Cthulhu as well, don't mess with Cthulhu. You can't kill him and if you nuke him he dissolves for a couple of seconds then reforms and is radioactive. His attack is basically scoop up loads of humans and eat them every round. Don't mess with Cthulhu. Luckily, the stars are not yet right.

EDIT: Micahael Moorcock was in Hawkwind for a while! One of my favourite bands. Their album "Chronicles of the Black Sword" is about the Elric saga. Stormbringer is my favourite fantasy novel.

What edition? I've got the 1st ed. from 1981 but I've heard really good stuff about the 3rd edition. (after the 4th it got kinda worse.. they renamed it "Elric" and mangled the rules)

The GamesWorkshop hardback edition, the one with the pages that fall out. It's basically the 1st edition rules (I think...) plus the expansion rulebook whatever that was called.

EDIT: This version

 That.. is.. so.. awesome! That's the one I've been hearing good stuff about. I'm pretty sure it must be the 2nd or 3rd edition, though, because the 1st edition is really rough (spelling errors and omissions) and isn't a hardback.

The 1st edition was the Chaosium one. I think it's just a GW/Chaosium rebrand with the expansion myself. Still got typos in it I think. All the pages just fall out if you try and turn them. So it's a hardback but the pages just fall out, I'd prefer staples myself. GW and their cheapo glue.

EDIT: It's from 1987. It has Stormbringer plus The Stormbringer Companion within its covers (or not, due to the page problem).

And Ken St. Andre wrote the original Tunnels and Trolls rules! With the "Take that you fiend!" spell. Classic. I think he works on computer games now.
