You serisouly DO need the handbook... I can hardly give you a summary of a couple odd hundred pages now, can I? .

you guys are right. but i bought these minis and they came with cards
they say stuff like:
Dromite Wilder

HD: 6 (40 hp) INIT: +1
AC: 20 (T 16, FF 19) SPD: 25 ft.
ATK: Sword +6 (1d4+1/19-20, magic)


SV: Fort +5, Ref+4, Will +5
AB: S 10, D 13, Sn 14, I 8, W 8, Ch 18


and much more stuff. what does all that mean?

If by minis you mean miniatures... then they're their stats (which i'm sure you knew), but they won't be of any use to you unless you have the manual... or know someone else who does. Sorry.

You goto Wotc website and download a pdf with free version of ad&d rules. Then print them all out, Shove the entire small booklet down your thoat and choke on them to death.
