How to Go Into Safe Mode?

On my laptop I was wondering how to go into safe mode just to know how. I remember on my brother's computer and on our home one I think you press like F8 when it loads but for me that doesn't work. When I load I get like 3 options, F1 which goes into some little screen with like four options that won't do anything I think, and I think it's F10 and F12 that both take me to the setup thing with your computer information and setting up logging on passwords and that information mainly for your computer.

I have a configure-as-you-want computer but I think it's a Compaq Presario R3000 or R3000Z, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hm, I didn't think there were any differences from desktops to laptops.

Are you sure you press F8 at the appropiate time? You have to press it just before the screen with the windows logo starts up.

there is difference between going to BIOS and pressing F8 when BIOS tries to access MBR.

Hit F8 as early and often as you can.

I don't know about BIOS but I'll try pressing it repeatedly.

Start --> run --> type "MSCONFIG" (without quotes), OK

BOOT.INI tab

select "safe mode"

APPLY, CLOSE, reboot.

to undo this change:

Start --> run --> type "MSCONFIG" (without quotes)

BOOT.INI tab

de-select "safe mode"
