How to install a mod (again)

Need help I'm new here. I followed the instructions like you posted I even replaced the InstalledPanel.xml. I then went to ~/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/sid meier's civilization v/Civilization V.app/Contents/Home/assets/DLC/Expansion/UI/FrontEnd/MainMenu.lua. However, when I got to DLC I couldn't find Expansion. What do I do?

Hi, welcome :wavey:

The DLC/Expansion/ folder should be there if (and only if) you have the Gods & Kings expansion.

Hello

Yeah I figured it out before I had the steam version I originally had the cracked version. All I had to do was delete the the old one then, delete the steam version and downlode it again. I got the mod option on my Main Menu now. All I need to do is figure out how to enable the mods I want.

For example would you know how to enable this mod.

I tried using EZ77z but it didn't work.

Ty for your help btw.

Let that be a lesson not to use cracked software :nono:

This one's the same as every mod I've looked at. The process is identical ...

It downloads as a file called yet__not__another_earth_maps_pack__v_15.civ5mod

I dropped that downloaded file onto Ez7z, clicked Expand, clicked OK to accept the default settings. In the location selection window, I clicked New Folder to create a new folder on my desktop. I named the new folder ynaemp, and clicked Choose. Ez7z expanded the mod into that folder.

I then dragged that folder from my desktop into the Mods folder at:

~/Documents/Aspyr/Sid Meier's Civilization 5/MODS

When I launched my Steam/Civ5, the Yes (not) Another .... mod was listed in the Mods window.

Yeah I know now.

Which UI folder do I drop it in since there are two. The first one in assets or the one in DLC.

Which UI folder do you drop what in? I don't think I modified the DLC folder, apart from editing the .lua file.

I tried the first one in assets however, it didn't appear in the mod enable button. It only gave me the option to check or uncheck DLC.

I'm sorry, mind reading is not one of my special skills :) What file, folder or mod are you talking about, and where are you trying to put it?

Lol I should have read your instructions more carefully I went to ~/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/sid meier's civilization v/Civilization V.app/Contents/Home/assets/UI/FrontEnd/Mods instead of going to ~/Documents/Aspyr/Sid Meier's Civilization 5/MODS.

Sorry if I wasted your time. Thank you again.

Hello all,

I'm returning to playing Civ V after a several month hiatus and picking up G&K. I used to play with the In Game Editor Mod prior to the expansion, but now I'm having a hard time updating that Mod, and I'm wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction.

Here's some more context:

- I'm running the most current version of Mountain Lion
- I'm running the most current Mac App Store version of Civ V: G&K
- I've had IGE running prior to G&K for several months successfully.
- My iMac has been acting kinda wonky since I last restored from backup. I seem to have 2x Library files (see screenshots). The "~/Library/Application Support/" trail that I remember once installing IGE under is missing in both, though.

I literally lost the Mods folder, but I still can see the old IGE Mod when I browse Mods. No idea where it's being referenced from.

Here's some screenshots for more clarity.

So here's my question: Will re-installing the game resolve this, or is there a new place that I can start putting Mods that will work. I want to start using v31 of IGE, which I've already downloaded and unzipped. I just can't for the life of me figure out where to put the folder. I've been wandering around my computer for a week now trying to figure out what to do... Any thoughts?

Just realized that I needed to click the bubble next to the add-on... The old version is working in G&K now. I still can't find it in Finder to update it though. So I've made some partial progress.

Also, I re-installed the game and re-modded both mainmenu.lua files again.

Now I'm getting this. So I definitely need to update the Mod...

*Update* I realized that I use Time Machine, so I restored the Application Support folder from January of this year. Put the Mods that I want in the appropriate place. Loaded the game. Mods don't show up. Old, incompatible, version of IGE is still only option.

July of this year is when that folder ceased to exist in the backup. What else could Civ be referencing for the old version of the IGE mod? Is there any way to force the game to look at the most current version of the folder?

There are at least two Library folders. One is at the top level of your hard drive and you should avoid doing anything to it. It's owned by the System. The other is the one you are probably remembering, and is in your Home folder. That is the one that is affectionately known as ~/Library.

However, in the latest incarnation of OS X and Civ5, you should put mods in ~/Documents/Aspyr/Sid Meier's Civilization 5/MODS/

Hi!
I am trying to install DonQuiche's IGE: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=436912

welcome :wavey:

Which version of Civ5 are you running? Mac App Store or Steam?

You've put it in the wrong mods folder then.

See my recent attempt at a definitive set of instructions.

PS. I can't comment on your weird text, because your screenshot link doesn't work. Try uploading it here. Click "Go Advanced" when posting, and then "Manage Attachments" in the Additional Options section.

sorry about the screenshot, and I cannot seem to find it that folder, I read somewhere that it is hidden? I am in an admin account, can you enable shoing hidden folders? I know you can do it on a PC
Thanks for spending time on it!

If you go through the post that I linked you will see how to find the ~/Library folder. It's hidden in OS X 10.7 and 10.8. You should follow the whole of that post to ensure that you have done everything required. That screen corruption *may* be a result of missing a step.

jk sorry its steam thats my bad, i wasnt the one who bought it i just inherited the mac, apparently it launches outside of steam
