Here is the final solution to play this great game on iMAC after Windows 7 is already installed (using Boot Camp). Other versions of Windows are untested.

You cannot play the game if you don't install the drivers for Windows 7 that Apple provides you here (http://support.apple.com/kb/dl995). If you were like me and the game wouldn't start and looked like a forever-loading piece of ...., your anger at CIV5-PC exclusivity is now over.

So here it is. Reinstall Windows 7 with the drivers and the game should work. Make sure you follow the instructions Apple give you to install the drivers (these have to be installed at the same time as Windows and cannot be installed later!). Please read the readme file about the drivers when you'll download them. You will need a USB flash drive to store the drivers before the installation of Windows 7 is completed. Once the installation of Windows 7 is done with the drivers Apple gave you, the game works. Nothing more to do. Hope this helps and enjoy this masterpiece.

This is additional information to that which Civ_King already posted, but perhaps he can update his stickied OP with the info and link contained here. I mentioned this very issue in a post in his thread, but it would be more helpful if it were included in the OP as well. :)
