How to roll back Russia

Sigh...

The rollback strategy doesn't work because there's not much to rollback. It's pretty much surrounded on all sides by western friendly nations and US military bases.

The West says Russia is trying to start a new Cold War. When reading articles like this, I'm sure a new Cold War is starting, but I'm not so sure about Russia starting it.

Russia has not the capacity to start anything close to "cold war". Russia is a nuisance, which has the potential to become a bigger problem if it is left unchecked.

Russian influence must be eliminated in Belarus, Ukraine and Georgia. Central Asia is too volatile to try anything there. In other words, the West must force Russia to learn that the authority of the Russian government ends on its borders. It has no business harassing its neigbours who want to join the Western organizations.

An impressive collection of propaganda and BS finely meshed together with hysterical anti-Russian paranoia.

Congratulations.

An impressive display of ignorance and inability to counter arguments with arguments.

Try to explain this to people in Ossetia, personally. You'll find out many interesting things about yourself :)

And invent something else to dream about, you are getting frustrated.

I know!!! Everything goes wrong for him... Lisbon treaty fails, Russia is getting stronger by the minute, NATO can do nothing about it and the new Ukranian govt of 2010 wants a good relationship with Russia!!!

Poor oul Winner...:lol::lol::lol:

I am not so optimistic.
Personally I vouch for a strong Eu-Russia alliance, but it seems difficult atm with USA breathing down our necks. Can we give Bush a copy of Civ or something?

about the next Ukranian govt? yuschenkos popularitys is somewhere around 10%, he has no chance. tymoshenko will win, and she has been conspicuously quite in criticising Russia, she needs the party of the regions support. did you know Yuschenko is having her investigated on suspicion of recieving money from Moscow?

Yeah I know that. But I am afraid if a pro-Russian or truly neutral government wins, there might just be some "rigged elections" reports, genocides and other troubles that would just request NATO or US presence.

Possibly, but that would be taking a huge risk, seeing as the vast majority of Ukranians do not want their country to join NATO. It would be pretty hard for Yushenko to demand NATO prescence in Eastern Ukraine or especially Sevastopol, seeing as the Russians will already be there and the majority of the population will be hostile to them. Russia just has to wait until 2010, then there will be a Ukranian govt that will try and balance relations with Russia and the US. Everyone's happy.

Lets see.... ;)

Russia should just annex Eastern Ukraine and the Crimea after that. I mean its full of Russians anyway....and unify with Belarus too. That would be good.

I think union with Belarus will happen eventually, once Lukashenko is out of the way. I doubt unless there is a full scale civil war in Ukraine that the east or Crimena will leave ukraine. but i could see Crimea getting autonomous status or something.

Hm....and what of the Russians in the Baltic states and Khazakstan?

Kazhakhstan has expressed a wish to join the existing union of Russia and Belarus at some future point, but I sincerely doubt it will ever happen. as for the blatic staes, I think theres more chance of Ireland joining the Russian Federation than any of them.
