How to solve problems, a primer

You have an excellent point. And now, I call Churchill, as I've been expecting to do.

(This is like calling Godwin when someone argues with Nazis, except that Churchill is called when someone criticizes democracy.)
Spoiler those who still don't get it :
"Democracy is the worst form of government, except for all the other forms that have been tried from time to time."
-Winston Churchill

We're working on better forms of governance on the Internet. Benevolent microdictatorships look promising, wouldn't you say?

It is funny though that this conclusion is taken as fact without a basic analysis of incentives.

(A future thread may come on this topic)

What conclusion?

Darn, Erik beat me to it.

I think maybe Aphex_Twin wants something that wasn't on Churchill's list of comparisons. Churchill compares governments. But does Aphex want anarchy?

Where's Lucearful (sp?) when you need him?

It seems to me that if you compared a well-functioning democracy (by the standards of most democracy activists) and a well-functioning anarchy (by the standards of most anarchy advocates) they'd have a LOT of very deep similarities. But maybe I'm missing something...

You're quite right, Aytollah.

Expect a thread on this very soon.

Wow.

I wouldn't call it that.
Anarchism is against all sorts of hierarchy, including private ones.
Last time I checked, Aphex was not against private property, with the ensuing power and privileges that gives certain individuals. This is not compatible to what most people mean by an anarchist society, which is a horizontal one.

Where's Lucearful (sp?) when you need him?
All over the place (Entering while singing the Factotum-aria from the Barber in Sevilla).
Actually I seem to recall that we had this discussion already. Perhaps I will elaborate on it later.
Or wait for the new thread.

I think what you write here makes a lot of sense.:)

I think you'd get better results with the Feynman Problem Solving Algorithm:
Spoiler :
1. Write down the problem.
2. Think very hard.
3. Write down the solution.
