Assuming a man claiming to be Jesus, who had performed several scientificaly and Chatholic advocated miracles, how do you think that Jesus would be recieved now a days?

Consider Revelation has already happened in the 4th century ad or whatever, and this third coming is to bring the world back to God not to end the world. What would be your reaction do you think, or your countries reaction, or the general reaction?

It depends somewhat. I think that he would be accepted but that his message would be trivialized. Some people would be in such a rush to embrace his teachings that they would miss the spirit of those teachings. And not just Christians, either. Of course, having science verify his miracles would be interesting.

I took a class last semester on American views of Jesus, which included at least 2 books asking this questio: one by socialist Upton Sinclair, and one by a former Catholic priest. They were both interesting books.

Everyone would pay him lip service and keep doing what they are already doing. Like ghandi in countries that aren't india!

It's a sad thing, but until we disgrace him and see what we have done we will not know the meanings of his teachings. I would view him as an Arab man who is just trying to save his faith (Not to mention the legalities of being a Christian in an Islam country).

Not well, not well at all.

The more liberal, atheist and general non-Christian elements of society would naturally regard him as just some nutcase.

Most christians would reject him for not conforming to their interpretation of his teachings.

First we'd surround his house with troops and armored vehicles, then we'd start blasting rock music at him 24 hours a day. Finally, when we got bored of that, we'd start ramming his house with a tank. Then we'd finish up by setting the house on fire and roasting him alive.

Only if he was in Texas.

Lots, and lots of skepticism. Which is a good thing.

Actually, if revelation had occurred and Jesus returned in all his glory, it would be more than evident who he is and all would recognize him as such.

Jesus' return isnt going to be on the low low. Its going to be an event that is going to be recognized by everything...even the very bones of the earth.

However, I can see this thread is going to draw more troll posts than any meaningful discussion.

I think this post was hypothetically saying if it was like, his first coming.

Exactly, sorry if this wasn't clear, this is a mission of peace and understanding not war on Satan's hordes.

Well first off, Jesus was in all likelihood a latte-colored middle eastern man. A very open minded one at that. Very docile and humble, with an air of kindness. So right off of the bat, he is held in suspicion by American cops.

Most christians that I know wouldn't really dig his viewpoints. Or so it would seem. Jesus in turn wouldn't dig their lifestyles, or so it would seem.

The cops would probably be called in on him on frequent occasions, due to his rather nutty, prophet like behavior.

The more cynical aspects of society would view him as a televangelist.

The more shameless aspects of society would take advantage of his morality and such.

Everyone else would think he is funny due to his very old sense of fashion.

Especially when he stepped on a subway grate blowing hot air, like Marylin Monroe.

No, he wouldn't dress now like he did then. He dressed in the clothing of his era and he would do so now - he would go around in a suit, and celebrate our holidays, and practice our customs as he followed the customs of his time when he came to 1st Century Palestine.

Jesus is already here. Went to my highschool. Nice guy, but he did get annoyed with me constantly asking him to show me the way of truth.....
But then I had to kill him on 6/6/06 to prevent the end of the world. *Sigh* He was such a nice guy....:mischief: :crazyeye:

I'd love to see him come to Alphabet city. Jesus dressed in a leather jacket and tattooed, making malt liquor out of gutter water for the punk show.

Why would Jesus wear a suit?

Because that's what people wear when they want to be taken seriously. Remember, he only wore the robes and shawl and all because that was the fashion of the time. But there is no reason he would follow the fashion of 2000 years ago if he came now. He would dress like most people dress, and blend in to the crowd physically like he did then. Heck, he might even shave.

I don't think anybody would take him seriously.

There are soooo many people around who claim to be of religious significance. They're either the son of God, they're Jesus, they can talk to God.. most of thse people are ignored and/or locked up. If Jesus actually existed and came down to say hi nobody would believe him either.

The problem is that now people go around saying they are Jesus Christ when clearly they are not, he already came. But in this scenario there has been no Jesus of Nazareth yet, no Jewish Messiah claimant who got a major following. He would be starting with a blank slate. And he wouldn't be claiming to be a 1st Century Palestinian reborn, just the Messiah, which is more understandable.
