I have recently learned some of the basics of html mainly because my friend has an offline computer which he made an offline website with. I got a free website of my own at geocities, but all those ones let you create the website without html anyways. So what all could I do with html?
And is the xml that I heard of worth getting into? Thanks! :goodjob:

the sites that allow you to do that without HTML-Knowledge will generate a HTML-Page as well, so if you later want to edit it (maybe without these tools, you're better off if you know HTML). Furthermore, with these tools you're restricted to do what the support. If you know HTML you can often do more, or more elegant solutions.

You don't need to learn XML if you just want to create Webpages. XHTML is based on XML, but looks basically exactly like normal HTML (with some minor differences). When creating a new site, I'd go with XHTML.

Plainly put, Geocities sucks, it has very limited scripting capabilities, no PHP that I know of and a very annoying advertisement smack in the middle of the page. Try this: http://goldeye.info (only a small picture ad at the top)

Or try your ISP, I know some will give you a hosted site for free with no ads. (i.e. For me, Comcast gives me a http://home.comcast.net/~myname/ - you aren't getting my real name!)
