Hi,

Does anyone know of a huge Earth Map with randomised starting locations for each civ? I tried copying the built-in huge earth map 18 civs in a text file by adding the line:

RandomStartLocation=true

..to each Civ between the BeginPlayer and EndPlayer, replacing StartingX=69, StartingY=37 etc, but the game (Civ 4) doesn't recognize the map in-game.

Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Note: This is on the vanilla Civ 4 (but I have access to the DLC, in case that helps somehow)

Yes, you should be playing the BTS expansion. It is the definitive form of Civ IV and most mods will be for that expansion (it is not DLC) BTS if the full and final version of the game with many improvements and enhancements.

I'll link the GEM (Giant Earth Map) mod here. I haven't played it in years but I'm pretty sure you can randomize civs on the map.

Also, this subforum has pre-made maps and I believe quite a few versions of Earth maps:

Just FYI: In the Smart Map script, there is a Custom Game option under "Continents" for "earth". Choosing this option will allow you to play on a map with the same landforms as Earth, scaled to whatever size you want. (you can set the scale by using the Height/Width override dropdowns).

CAVEAT: This is by no means a precise Earth map. The landforms are shaped like the real world, but the terrain, rivers, etc is random. Same thing with resources. And the Civs are distributed randomly.

The script is in LoR where I play it regularly, but I haven't played around with the parameters too much. I'm not sure what other mods have it.
