Huge Explosion at U.S. Gas Power Plant

I heard about it this morning. I have to wonder what exactly happened. I guess it is pretty obvious that it had to be some kind of gas explosion, but...we'll see.

sounds like a blast, dude

@useless. What is exactly is funny?

Is it me or is the 'lol' really in bad taste here?

Guys, guys. It was just a joke.

Horrible joke. Not appropriate.

Oh, I see that I am well-covered, on that point.

5 dead. 11 wounded. This is semi-local to me, so coverage is all over the news. This was an incomplete gas burning power plant that was still under construction. It was the construction crews that in some way caused the explosion while purging natural gas lines.

yeah, they were purging all the natural gas out of a large power plant, but someone was running a space heater

Wow Australian media is horribly sensationalist. Earlier in the day, ninemsn and the SMH both reported this as 'at least 50 dead'. It's good to see that they fact check before presenting witness reports.

It was a large explosion yes, but not on the scale of world news. Surrounding buildings didn't take major damage.

Still a pointless tragedy.

In the immortal words of Crocodile Dundee. That's no explosion. This is an explosion:
