Like the new USN camoflage, they are just for show.

It was a hoot seeing them for the first time when we went to Norfolk, lol. What happens if they go overboard?

But really, it was explained to us, they are the new work uni, and grease/gunk/dirt/etc blends into the dark cammies better, and they don't look as nasty when dirty. IDK if thats for real, but thats what we were told.
