I hate reading books and im probably one of the few people who really hates it.

I did not grow up reading chapter books. I only read non fiction books with pictures and stuff.

I like history and science non fiction but i cant stomach reading any fiction books.

I dont know how im going to do it. Anyone know of a way to do a book report without reading it? Or any advice on how to get through this...

This is a college english class thats required for most students. Theres no way around this i wont be able to graduate without this.

What book are they suggesting you read?
Why not read a 'hard' science fiction book? Stephen Baxter springs to mind.

You can't always do things that you like - especially regarding education. So tough it up, and read the book - looks like you have no choice anyway :)

Right now its a book called "The Whores Child and other stories" by richard russo.

No we have to read certain books, we have no choice.

But luckily hamlets next and i already read that... but i dont remember much.

And for hamlet we have to read the version with the strange sounding english. Shakespeare doesnt know how to talk i tell you!

So you like history, huh?

Jules Verne

I have no choice see above post. :(

I think you are making this a bigger problem than it is. Are you looking for an advise on how to force yourself to read it? Or do you want to see what sci fi books are not too sci fi?
What did your teacher tell you? "Read a random sci fi book?"

Of course not! Where did you get that idea?

Sparknotes is better, from what I have heard.
Could be, I never really used the stuff, though, had little reason too.

You only have to convince your teacher that in fact every book is fiction, even historic or scientific books that pretend to be scientifically.

well when you have to do something my advice is that you do it. I'd recomend that you take this advice it will benefit you in all areas of life:p

"Don't be a crook, just read the book!"

Reading fiction is good for you. Like eating vegetables is good for the body. Use study notes as a aid if you have to, but never plagerize.

Frankly, I'm surprised you got this far without this becoming a problem. You're taking a graduation-requirement class and you haven't had to read a fiction book yet?

Weird.
