I noticed that more and more posters are losing their respect for moderaters. We must have more respect for them becuase they carry a huge responsibility.I already putted this in my sig.(my i have my 1000$ now TF?;) )
So when we post and a moderaters changes something.
Dont flame or spam him but be polite.
With politeness you can archieve a lot here:)

Indeed. More and respect and blind obedience is called for. :yeah:

ok, phillip, what was the deal?
Im a respectful guy...most of the time ;)

volunteers are to be commended for their service. On the other hand, everyone thrust into a place of authority must restrain the lttle tin god impulse. Was it Oliver Cromwell who said, I beseach you in the bowels of Christ to consider you may be mistaken?

Or, Rule 1, the moderator is always right.

Rule 2, should the moderator be wrong, see rule one above.

I have no complaints, my oxen aren't the ones being gored, on the other hand, its a hard life if there is no appeal.

Perhaps we should contact the moderators if the CIv 3 forum are full of it.

what is "it"? I don't detect much Sam Houston Institute of Technology in our postings. Well maybe a little, to add flavor.

I (speaking for myself only) am unconcerned about the Civfanatics poster's repsect for me; It is a matter of persective, I am somebody in real life. But I demand respect for the site, and obediance for my directives within the scope of my authority here.

I want to add emphasis to Lefty's perspective because I too have a real life that earns me respect for who I am and what I do as a real person. My moderator decisions are always made based on my intepretation of what is best for the site as whole and for the specific sections of the site where I have responsibilty.

One thing that members need to bear in mind is that this site and all its features are truly a huge undertaking. Unlike many other gaming sites we support an large and diverse community of players who range in age from pre-teen all the way up to retired persons. The site has different community segments that function of different levels and to meet different needs for the members. While there general conduct minimums that might cause you to be struck by lightening, each of the community areas at civfanatics has a behavior personality that gets set by the members and the personal styles of the moderators. This is good and it is why we have such an active community.

We are experiencing an influx of lots of new and younger members and this creates a mixture of changes plus a need to recognize that there are some major performance issues that help to make this site different. For the most part or content is better than any of the other options that would be available at those other named sites and our members include a higher percentage of active and well informed players. These things keep our members involved and account for why the site is growing so strongly. None of the members or mods are here to provide a home for misconduct that would disrupt the positive aspects of the site in any way.

Well mods have it tough. They have to deal with the riff raff, read tons of posts, and make sure everything is running smoothly in their domain of responsibility. They have to take things more seriously then the average joe, and they have to make sure the rules made by those above them are followed. All of this while not being able to operate like a regular user. They can't post what they want and they can't react to a post the way you or I would. They have to act on behalf of the site, which means they have less freedoms then the regular user.

I was once told on another site that 'he is a moderator, he can say whatever he wants'. That individual was told 'no, he is a moderator, he cannot say things that conflict with his job and rules of the site he moderates'. Well, that isn't exactly what was said, but that is the gist of it. A lot of users think being a moderator would be cool because you can do what you want, well you have less rights as a moderator then as a poster adn you anser to a higher authority as well.

Moderators in general get my respect, I know how hard it is first hand. Some moderators act by out-thinking the riff raff, some act with an iron fist, and some act with an analytical mind, and 1000 other variations. My point here is that the only one who can say they are right or wrong is the admin they report to. Whether joe user likes it or not, as long as the admin is happy, the mod did their job and did it well. A tough job to do indeed.

Enough of my babble.

Enjoy and behave peoples!

Seems like a suck up thread.

However, I was planning the same thread (i'm not a suckup, if any of you are thinking that). Most of the problem is that people seem to take disagreement with their position as a personal attack. It's just discussion. Lighten up and make the job of these fine invidiuals so much easier.
