My new computer arrived today.
However, being Vista, it's totally messed up the part where it says it's installing the Conquest victory video, it stops and says:
Feature transfer error
Feature: Default feature
Component: Civ4 Component
File: E:\data2.cab
Error: Data error (Cylic redundancy check)
Please help me, I wanna play Civ!

I recently bought a new computer with Vista as well. However, the installation went fine. All I can suggest is to try reinstalling, and making sure you have the proper permissions (if yours isn't the only account).

As annoying as Vista is, I don't think that is a Vista problem. Is your CD dirty or scratched? Sometimes the installation files can get smudged or scratched and the game will play, but not install.

yeah it's not vista. If it was this forum would be jammed up with similar help requests. I would recommend re-installing.

I run Civ4 on Vista fine...and, as Onionsoilder said, sometimes it means the disk is dirty.

yeah, it happened to me with an oblivion disk... I hope for you that it's just dirty and not scratched, that can be a pain

CRC's are usually caused by damaged/dirty disks. I once forgot to put my Stronghold and my Freelancer disks away and left them on my desk, exposed to sun . I came back a few days later and tried read the disks they gave CRC errors. They were totally destroyed.
