ICNES II: A New Order

From: Palatinate of the Rhine
To: Saxony

These are not crooked dealings. We held a meeting with the German States and we decided not to include you for various reasons. We already stated that it is purely a defensive and economic confederation so it should not threaten you.

You may apply to join the confederation, but all the members must agree on your appliance. A consititution will be drafted up within a few weeks (OCC: tommorrow) which requires all the member signatures to be drafted.

I'll confirm Sardinia-Piedmont...Some better ones are probably open (Japan), but I'd rather have a nation I know more about.

Someone needs to take Austria...

To the Kingdom of Sweden
From the Empire of All the Russias
Czarina Catherine II the Great has noticed your worry, and though she feels you are nothing but overly anxious Protestant fools, she is willing to offer you a five turn pact of non-agression. We have no desire to wage war on our Christian neighbours, there is enough to be had from the development of Mother Russia's massive expanses to keep her people busy for a long time.

The update, originallly for tomorrow, is being delayed until Wednesday. I need an Austria and I have not received one order set.

I will be taking Austria as I already claimed for it two pages ago.

All diplomacy shall be read and returned before too long.

Austria shall continue to stand proud amongst the nations of the world!

To Palatine of the Rhine
From the Gross Austrian Reich

Indeed we are German! So unless Saxony, Prussia and Austria are fully accorded a true place as equal parties under this Confederation of yours and unless Austria is given leadership of this confederation as the largest empire of the Germans and thus the natural leader then we see no sense in continuing our support for such a conglomeration of kingdoms that is an obvious ruse to shift the power balance of Germany to the west and to the Palatine.

Until we have our reply we shall reserve judgement on an alliance.

To Saxony
From the Austrian Reich

Indeed we sign such an alliance as what you have suggested.

To Sweden
From the Austrian Reich

Indeed we sign such an alliance as what you have suggested.

To France
From Austrian Reich

We propose a treaty of Non-Aggression for the time being and a French gaurantee of non-interference in all German affairs that is requested not only by the German people!

To Britian
From Austrian Reich

We propose a treaty of non-aggression.

To Spain
From Austrian Reich

We propose a treaty of non-aggression.

To Papal States
From Austrian Reich

We propose an alliance of Catholic nations with you as its head. Will you agree.

To Pidemont House of Savoy (SECRET)
From The Gross Austrian Reich

As a cousin of the House of Hasburg, I hope the House of Savoy shall agree that it is time to rid ourselves of certain neighbours, I thus would like to talk to you more in private.

From Palastine of the Rhine
To Austria

Prussia declined joining the confederation. This is no ruse to shift power in Germany. The states of the confederation refused to allow Saxony to join because of past experiences. We did not think you wished to join the North German Confederation because your Empire already controls all of Southern Germany.

To Palatine of the Rhine
From the Gross Austrian Reich

It is because of the fact that our Reich does hold all of Southern Germany and the fact that we ourselves are German people it would be unwise not to include us in a defensive and economic pact if that is what it is. Futhermore it would be unwise to extend that offer of membership to Saxony as well. If Prussia chooses not to join, that is Prussia's choice after all.

What is not acceptable is your blatant attempt to take over the many small kingdoms and duchies of the German plain. The Gross Austrian Reich will not accept this, and if this Confederation was to form without Austria or Saxony membership offered we would consider it a direct threat against the security of our Reich posed by the Palatine and thus treated as such.

From Palatinate of the Rhine
To Austria

You may apply to join the North German Confederation if you wish. Although, the current members must acknowledge your acceptance by a majority vote. We are not trying to dominate the small duchies. We do not see how this is threatening to the Austrian Reich, but if you precieve it as so then please wait until the constitution is drafted and approved by current members before declaring it a threat to your reich.

The small duchies of Germany feel threatened by Saxony given their past history and we also feel threatened. The states chose not to include them. Also, we will not let Austria become the leader of the confederation just because you have the most power currently. We will show how the "chancellor" of the confederation is choosen in the upcoming constitution that is being drafted. We prefer each German State have a chance at overseeing the confederation so we are truely equal parties.

An alliance between Saxony and Austria severly tips the balance of power in Germany and it is only natural for the remaining states to feel threatened. Please take this into consideration before making wild accusations that we threaten your reich.

One last thing have your foriegn advisor learn how to properly spell our nations name. How can you lead the small German States if you do not know how to spell their names correctly. An embarrassment to our people and yours.

To the Palatine of the Reich
From the Austrian Reich

We see your concerns however any German Confederation should include both Saxony, Austria and the Palatine as well as those duchies. If it does not then it is a threat to the Austrian Reich and will be treated as such.

Given that Austria is allied with Saxony, would you not think it more prudent to include us and also thus gain an alliance with us then to deny our reasonable demands.

Our demands are thus simple invitation of membership into the Confederation extended to by the Confederation members to Saxony and Austria. Or decleration of war on the Palatine of the Rhine by the Austrian Reich for attempts to alter the German balance in their farvour. We see any future Confederation without Saxon or Austrian membership as only the province of the Palatine aimed scorely against those of Saxony and conversely Austria.

From Palatinate of the Rhine
To All German States

We hearby announce our withdrawal from the North German Confederation. Instead we announce that we are willing to take steps to a confederation that includes all German States. A confederation where all states are equal under. We ask all German Leaders to meet in Heidelburg to begin discussions on this alliance.

We find this reasonable and hopefully it is acceptable the Monarch of Austria. Just to make it fair the final copy will be drafted in Vienna and signed there. We ask, however, the discussions take place in Heidelburg.

I am slightly confused. For our eco stat, have economy centers and other factors been taken into account, or do we have to add everything up, probably resulting in several people getting it wrong?

To: Austrian Reich

From: Sardinia-Piedmont

We are eager to hear what you have to say.
