I had an idea where civilizations not only slowly evolve into other ones, (Rome starts as the etruscans and ends as italy.) but have a different leader for each era. This is to prevent say gilgamesh from talking politics with ghandi but rather having rough contempararies duke it out.
Tell me what you think. (More to come)
Example
Ancient age:Beginning- 600 B.C. Babylon (Hammurabi/Nebbuchadnezzer)
Classical age:600 B.C.- 300 Persia (Cyrus/Darrius/Xerxes)
Dark age:300-1000 Arabia (Harun al rashid)
Mideavil Age:1000-1500 Arabia (Saladin)
Discovery/Rennaisance/Enlightenment Age:1500-1700 Ottoman (Suleiman)
Industrial/Victorian Age:1700-1860 Saudi Arabia (Muhhamad Ali Pasha)
Modern Age:1860-1969 Turkey (Ismail Enver)
Space age:1969-2500 Iran (Ayatollah Khomenni)

Plus many precolumbian cultures will be confined to one era, the pre-columbian era. An example is the good ol' US of A.
Pre-columbian: Beggining- 1500 Native America (White Buffalo Woman)
Discovery Age: 1500-1700 Iroquois (Hiawatha)
Industrial Age: 1700-1860 America (Lincoln/Washington)
Modern Age: 1860-1969 America (Roosevelt I/Roosevelt II)
Space Age: 1970- 2500 america (Reagan)

I like this idea. Rhye's and Fall already does this for Civ IV. It makes sense. My concern would be that with all the work they put in for each leader animation in CivV it'd be a huge job.

This would be extremely difficult to implement and would ruin the spirit of Civilization... Adding too much realism makes the game less fun.

A full list is coming soon.
Quick question? Who should russia be in the medieval ages. The kievan rus or the mongols?
