Ideas for C2C

Brackenspore: I put a few similar buildings to your last round of suggestions in my space colonization modmod. I have a lot of interest in some other earthbound late-game buildings, but right now my focus is on reviewing the existing buildings. Would you have any interest in collaborating and building up that project further? PM me if so.

What do you mean by "age minority" and why would a technocracy or a corpo-nation go out of its way to support the disabled?

why would a technocracy or a corpo-nation go out of its way to support the disabled?

Because of laws enacted in the Civ they want to work in.

In some countries now - you have to employ a number of disabled people.

Sorry, but I don't buy it. Is there any country in the world (or has there ever been) that didn't have some kind of "ageism", even if just a minimum age for voting? I have a bit of a problem imagining toddlers participating in an election.

Even in a stone-age society kids have to be trained for a few years before they can really do anything and the world has not become less complex.

And then there is another point: There are quite a few laws "discriminating on age" that were implemented to protect children, like laws about child labor. If you forbid any law "discriminating on age" those laws would be gone as well. I don't think that would be in children's best interests.

Do not forget, that it is only in recent history - that a lot of children survived to become teenagers/adults - and even now, not in all countries.

Yes, I get that. But this is still unlike the other forms of discrimination. You can expect (as long as you live) that your age-based rights are increased with time until you are a "full citizien". And please remember that most laws "discriminating on age" are about

  • parental control (OK, some people might think it OK to see that gone)
  • Child labor laws / laws against child soldiers
  • age of consent
  • Edit: age of criminal responsibility

Almost all cases where children are mistreated in the world is about things that can be done to adults without many people objecting.

There are cases where children's best interests could be further promoted, but that is usually not done by taking control away from the parents / guardian. It might e.g. strengthen policy about families if you give all citizens voting rights but have the vote of minors controlled by the parents / guardian.

None of the Religion techs can be required for any building as it confuses the AI. They spend time on learning techs that have no use to them at all.

Those books could be added to the individual religions. I would suggest that the Story Teller line should be able to spread them (consumes the unit) and so could the missionary unit (does not consume the unit). They could also be part of the Ideas project.

"None of the Religion techs can be required for any building as it confuses the AI. They spend time on learning techs that have no use to them at all" - Ah, ok.
"Those books could be added to the individual religions" - My idea: these books could be created in city without state religion. For Example: My State Religion - Islam / Or I have no State Religion. Islam, Voodoo and Shamanism are presented in Toronto city. I can build Quran, Veve and Song of Spirits. Mormon is presented in Quebec city. I can build Book of Mormon.

I suppose the most natural choice for the prereq tech would be "scriptures". But I see a bit of a problem with

  • their strength (from the amount of :hammers: I think these are regular buildings, and most of the proposed boni are quite powerful)
  • the balancing (it's good that these "buildings" are not just carbon copies of each other, the way vanilla religions are, but in some cases the difference is quite large: Veve and Theogony are very weak, whereas Popol Vuh is a rather powerful building)

We do try and make the religions different in C2C.

Consideration on timing should be made with the timing of the religion and the form of the "building". Is it an oral or written tradition (or painted)?

Would they be better as a National Wonder that gives a free effect building in each city? Would the effects vary with technology?
