If you were Saddam...

Unfortunate that Saddam's DX gas could kill thousands of
Allied soldiers, or Israeli civilians if delivered via a missle,

...Or even quietly dropped in a hand luggage bag.

Saddam may try something desperate if he feels his empire falling...

America would not want to conquer Iraq in one week,
They failed to do the job in 1991, and they might not do it now
unless there is some economic reward, or if OBL pops up in Iraq.

Assualting Afghanistan was vengeance.
Assualting Iraq is just bloody stupid.

I am not Saddam, but this is what I theorise he would do:

Firstly, call upon his fellow Arabic and Muslim nations to destroy the infidels and Zionists! That will probably fail, because quite frankly nobody is a hero when it comes to nuclear beeetch slapping.

Then launch all missiles, release all poisons, send all troops in a frenzied suicidal charge and try to damage everyone else as much as possible. And when the end is nigh, destroy as much of Iraq and its citizens as possible, Scorched Earth DX style. And a bullet in the head? Not likely, much better to run away, to live to scourge another day.

It is likely an influential general could betray and usurp Saddam. I do not know why the nations close to Iraq even give him any face at all after his playground bully antics, such as dumping one million gallons of crude oil into the seas to sabotage the salt-into-fresh water production of fellow nations. I think Saddam is also bursting some arteries every now and then when he remembers South Park the movie (which maybe someone with a Cessna plane could have dropped thousands of copies of over Baghdad).

The conquest of Baghdad and deposing of Saddam never happened because in Bush Senior's time, Americans became anti-war after seeing morbid media images of dead Iraqis on the streets. In Clinton's time he steered away from such risky business as war.

Adn Iraq set fire to not one , not two, but over 740 oil wells in Saudi Arabia, many of which are still burning today. (National Geographic Special). Global Warming for all if you Bombard Oil on your Civ3 map.

If I were honestly Saddam? I'd hire some Mafia types to set up a front company chain, and have one of those front companies buy OBL a couple Russian nukes, and some airfare.

Who needs an ICBM? A cargo jet will do nicely if you grease the right palms.

Honestly, some people just don't understand how to use power and money to achieve even the simplest objectives. It's sad, really, that power and money go to those least capable of taking fullest advantage of them.

Actually, If I were Saddam, the US would have lost the Gulf War, because I would have made the entire invasion of Kuwait a clever trap for an ambush of the MAU, and followed the trap with a push to Oman, Israel, and Pakistan.

I guess it's lucky for the world that I'm not Saddam.

Scary to think we were only a few good ideas away from defeat, and that nothing all of our technology and massed force could have done would have stopped it.
