Are those furs in Denmark?

Curragh after Settler should be good. Dotmap anyone?

EDIT: Here are the variant rules just for reference:

Barbaric - We just can't build any culture at all, with the exception of small wonders. IIRC, captured GW's don't produce any culture, correct? Well, with the notable exception of ToA.

Opium Barons - dictates the number of wars we fight as a function of the luxuries we control at the beginning of a certain age. If we are maxed out on luxuries (native, not imported), then we may not fight a war. Does this mean we must cave to all demands? What about defensive wars? I imagine we would have to take the first peace offer we get? Can it at least be the first peace offer that we don't have to make concessions?

Crackhead research - we will apply this concept to self-research as well. So the absolute maximum number of techs we can self research would be 32 throughout the game. In reality, the number will probably be closer to 20 or 25, including the 8 in the AA. And we will probably be buying/stealing/whatever most of the techs in the Modern Age.

Sorry if we didn't dicuss
Get over to russia ASAP. Get the good land. Get some communications. Build up swords (theres got to be iron in norway somewhere) kill whos in russia. (if there is one). spread through Poland, Belarus, etc and conquer Europe and we should be able to win from there. (is this world map starts or ramdom?)
(Space)

Tomoyo: thats wine.

 @the dotmap. It's good though. I agree we should explore Russia, preferably then explore Europe and Asia if we can. Perhaps we should colonize the British Isles when we can?

I think I've played this map (Rhye's 180x180? Edit: Oh, it's 134x130. I've played that, too. Very good.) and it's nice.

Alternatively we could move the one near Stockholm S-SE and the one in the way north to where Trondheim is.

Got it. Like the Sakura map. Will play to that unless I hear objections.

WOW!

I leave for like 8 hrs, and we already have a turnset, a dotmap, and a handoff? :hmm:

That's what I guess for trying to golf, I guess.

Sakura map looks good, at least as far as we can see right now.

Ah...such a wonderful spectacle. Paris on the fjord!
No probs playing MadV. I'm just a "team discussion" kind of guy.

Don't forget that the resources have been shuffled as have the starting positions. Most of the starts were in europe before the shuffle.

There are also a couple of "mutations" due to the comet that passed by.....

In 2950 meet the Iroquois coming out of the Baltic States. The Great Hiawatha has many neighbors and friends and has met many barbarian tribes as he has much knowledge but no money

He knows Bronze Working, The Wheel, Warrior Code, Ceremonial Burial, in addition to our Alphabet, Masonry and Pottery.

The Nordic French are way too poor for Hiawatha to have any dealings with.

Hiawatha has warriors all over the landscape east.

In 2800 the settler sets out to the northeast.

In 2670 meet the Romans to the south who know Bronze Working and Warrior Code in addition to our Alphabet, Masonry and Pottery but have lots of money undoubtedly taken from the Iroquois.

In 2630 plant Odinspally and pop a warrior from the friendly friendlies. With another warrior in hand switch Paris to a boat.

ANd in 2550 our scout heads across the plains of Poland looking for Roosians.

There is a nest of wooly mammoths to the SE of Paris but a long walk from where we are.

Tomoyo's "theory of SGism"....
Tomoyo said:
lurker's comment: So: Assuming that a group of five people (uh like SW, AK, Bede, Viper??)are in three SGs(OK but I count 5....AK9,Who1, SW05, Arab Invasion and Igor1) the law of averages states that eventually, the games will all hit one person at one time(that'd be moi') that's proper nordic french fyi. That's when it all goes wrong.(I see, please tell me more...) That person will then enter "feast mode" ( ) and play all of them.(Does this mean no RL?) Then the next person (SW?) will enter feast mode. This is a never-ending cycle.
:hmm:

Sesn want to switch? I have AK9, and arab invasion pre IA in both.

Sorry, just saw this.

No problem with the swap, I'll get to it sometime today. :)

I checked the map.... it is 65 high by 67 wide. That was only a straight-line count (ie. N-N-N..., or E,E,E...). If you count NE, NW,NE.... then I think that it would be 130 high by 134 wide. I've already posted this in the other team's thread so that there won't be any confusion....

Thank you, Tubby, for confirming. 134 by 130 isn't bad (considering a normal large map is 140 by 140).

And Tomoyo, I like your theory. It's accurate.

IHT – Big surprise. I take a handoff from Bede, and don’t have to touch a thing. Go figure. :D

Not sure I agree with worker in Odin, given the slow growth in both cities, but my falling chunks of rust tell me to leave it alone.

IT – Paris curragh -> curragh

2510 BC (1) – Send curragh to British Isles before a southern turn. Someone must have started there, right? Also meet Chinese worker. They have BW, CB, WC, Wheel, but lack Alpha. Given the Iro warrior on my tail, try to get while the getting is good. $ shillings thrown in with our Alpha gets us Wheel. Wheel in turn gets us WC and BW with 33 gold on top from the Romans. No horsies visible as of yet. CB is still not available to us.

2470 BC (2) – Rome now has IW, which of course we can’t touch. Wish I had waited one turn, though I doubt I could have pried it from them anyhow. Dinghy spies a barb camp in England. Could it be uninhabited?

2350 BC IT – Paris curragh -> settler. Not sure on this one, Whomp may want to change it. Might want a bit more growth first.

2310 BC (6) – Figure the odds of meeting anyone up north are not good, so second dinghy will head for Africa. On second thought, looking at the minimap, we may be able to get a boat to the New World.

2270 BC IT – Odin worker -> warrior

Not much to say here. Got us a couple techs. Growth is slow, since we’re not exactly working with the Napa valley here. Feel free to change my builds. Writing in 5. No sign of intelligence in England. No sign of horses anywhere. One curragh in the English Channel if we want to check out Ireland. The other is at Portugal, which is the most likely spot for a crossing, of course, if we want to attempt one. Our intrepid explorer is somewhere near Turkey, heading for the Middle East. Have fun. :)
