For a background summary. I bought Civ 7 on launch and did not buy any of the expansions as they are TOO EXPENSIVE (see below). i have played to completion around 3-4 games as China, Rome-Spain-France, Meiji Japan. I think the game is still fun even with the civilization switching and that its workable from that point of view. i do realize that is at odds with a large portion of the community sentiments.
that being said -- my real issue with this game is the company that is providing it. they have failed utterly to provide a product that lives up to the cost. they coasted on name brand and did not invest in innovation and new technology to move the series forward. specifically, i am talking about the lack of civilizations in the game. the simple fact that they are charging such exorbitant fees to access more civilizations is brigantine and shows that the product, with its current leadership, is doomed to fail.
recommendations:
1. Immediately release a version of the game that includes all content that is released for a reasonable price. probably an all inclusive edition should be released for $60.00 that will include ALL civilizations that the game will release.
2. quality/quantity of civilizations. this is obvious but the CADENCE of civilizations/leaders that are playable must be drastically increased. as of now, we do not have the following civilizations.
a. Ottomans (coming soon)
b. Austria/Holy Roman Empire
c. byzantines
d. medieval Japan
e. Vikings.
f. aztecs.
g. zulu.
h. modern korea
i. modern italy
j. medieval/ renaissance italy
LEADERS:
certain leaders that are missing that should be included as a matter of course.
a. alexander the great
b. Ottoman leader (probably Sully)
c. Habsburg leader
d. Japanese samurai leader
e. british leader (ada does NOT count)
f. montezuma
g. SHAKA
h. byzantine leader.
i. viking leader.
this is a very serious list of omissions for a game that is charging $70.00 for the BASE edition. it is arguably an incomplete product. so why is firaxis charging FULL PRICE for an incomplete product? the DLC model is predicated on the initial SUCCESS of the game. that success has frankly not come to civ 7. the game is stillborn as of current player count reports that have been documented in detail on this forum. drastic action is required. releasing an edition that not only included all current content, but also provided ALL future content (which presumably would draw from the common sense list above) would be a lifeline for the game to at least make some sales. Firaxis, if you are reading this, please listen to reason and stop trying to nickel and dime your loyal customers. we want to play civilization, but not at the cost of being duped and made to feel as suckers to your DLC monetization schemes. Please, Please do the right thing and release a REASONABLY PRICED version of the game with MORE CONTENT.
