Ok, im playing a game where i'm going very well, im the Japanesse and have killed off the French and Celts and now hopefully going to kill the Koreans.

Anyway......

the Franch killed the Presians earlier on in the game, though it seems they are not dead, for they are still in my diplomacy screen.....the Persians are still alive and kicking however they do not have any cities...as i've discovered the whole world map and through espionage and negotionations (spelling?) they seem to have no cities.....but they seem to have been doing this for 1000 yrs now and im getting a tad annoyed....i want them dead!!!

where are they???? why do they not have a city? and when the French finished them off, why were they not actually finished off??

I'm sure they have a settler somewhere. Keep looking :D

They probably have a settler on a boat.

Seafaring gypsies are not unknown. You need to find their ship to kill them. A bunch of ships, 4 tiles apart, moving from one side of the world to the other should do it. Just to be safe, send one lot East and one lot West, that way they will be found eventually.

There is probably nowhere for them to settle right now.

If you don't want to hunt for them, set a trap. Capture some land, or use your own. Raze/abandon cities and make sure no other AIs settle there. Wait for the Persians to show up to settle. Kill them! :)

Yes, I think Inter is right! They have settler somewere who is not in a position to made the city . :tank: But don't worry you will find him sooner or later;) !

These guys are right. Also, did you turn on "respawn AI player"? If you do, they can pop up again, eevn if you kill em all. :crazyeye:

my current game is 256x256, huge pangea, diety level, me+15AI... anyway, we had reach a maximum of 500 cities...
before i conquer france, i make sure they have no settler running around (useful knowledge courtesy of 007)... once i conquer and raze the city, immediate france is re-spawn in another location, and all its units are teleported to the new city, i know because i can see their units(courtesy of 007 again)...
so i try again, reload... this time i did not raze their last city... immediately, my advisor told me i had destroy the french civilization... so does that means they wouldn't come back??

anyways they havn't appear anyway for about 15 turns now... :)

If they respawn, they must respawn immediately. There are AFAIK two requirements for a civ to respawn: You must have the respawn option "on" for the game, and there must be a suitable position for the civ to respawn to.
In your case, did the French respawn close to their last (razed) city? If so, the explanation is likely that with the last city razed, there was enough free land for the French to respawn, but with the last city captured the amount of free land was too little.

Also, note that when a civ respawn, it not only get a new settler, but also all its other starting units, and on deity that means another settler, two workers and several military units.

I just had this happen to me. The Indians had a settler on a galley when I wiped them off the map. They gave me 60 (!)GPT somehow, when they had only the settler, the galley, and a pikeman. So I milked them for 20 turns as I searched for the little bugger. Found it on turn 15, waited until peace was up for renegotiation, they didn't cough up anohter 60GPT, so I sent 'em to the bottom with an ironclad. The most interesting thing is, these guys had MMP's with 3 other civs--none of which declared war on me when I finally put Ghandi out of my misery. I found that odd, but figured it's only invoked if attacked in their territory. Since they had none...

Later!

On my first Diety game the Chinese and Japanese punished me by pushing me back into the sea around 300 bc. I sailed around with three gallies and two settlers until I found a group of two islands close togeather and resettled. I managed to win that game through the use of a leader I got before the Chinese captured my last mainland city and spending all of my money buying fission and creating the UN. I never could build any more than those two island cities.

Expand on that story and put it in Stories & Tales. Sounds like a great epic read. :D

It seems the Indiands always do that.
In my current game, they are the 3rd world power among the 12 civ left (out of 24), and yet, i managed to find an Indian galley near the north pole, not moving... :)

hi NiceOne,

france respawn some distance away... yes there is a lot of free land, cause the game is played in map size 256x256.

i read from a thread sometime back that when respawn, the civ will get something like 1 settler, 1 worker, 2-3 offsensive/defensive units and 10x the starting game(which is normally 100)... however the amout of units france have after respawn is quite alot... which led me to conclude that all french forces that are not destroy are teleported back to the new respawned city... i should have a saved game somewhere in my harddisk... will confirm next tuesday after going for a long-awaited holiday this weekend :)

I have a question about the settler in a boat thing. I have been reading about this since I started coming to this forum. Something recently occurred to me. I think the settler and I know the boat require unit upkeep. If all the cities of a civ have been wiped off the face of the planet, how are the units supported.

I am sure it happens, too many people have seen it happen to them to suspect otherwise. It just does not seem to make sense to me. I know in most cases, if the AI cannot support units they are disbanded. Is there a special exemption if it’s the last unit?

I'm not sure about that issue (maybe Grille or someone else more expirienced can give you right answer), but I think that Civ (without city) recive a 100 gold sum which is enough to support all units since they have not buildings and citizens to spend money (food)....Or I'm wrong:confused: .
