- "Report."
- "Degradation is moving at nearly sixty-five percent below our expectations. It is simply not corroding the material at effective speed."

President Zachary lit his cigar and furrowed his brows as he stepped up to the observation platform. It was a large, luxury suite, overlooking a massive underground center of rows upon rows of laboratories. The suite itself was protected by experimental Rho-shielding, and reinforced plexiglass. At the president's side stood four heavily armed and armoured lifeguards; members of the Federal Secret Service (*FSS). There was a popular rumour around the civil population that these members had been handpicked and kidnapped from their respective hospitals some time after their birth, and had been trained in the arts of combat, and indoctrined to kill and die for Zachary at the best of their abilities. There were also less-mentioned and more fearful conspiracy theories moving about that these individuals were heavily modified with next-gen cybernetic augmentations and muscle-fibre enhancing genetic modifications.

- "I did not fund this project to be disheartened, Dr. Rheinhart. I am expecting results. The people, are expecting results."

Dr. Rheinhart swallowed. One could see the nervous sweat running down his forehead, forcing him to take off his glasses and wipe his eyes clear. He turns to grab for an electronic notepad he had earlier left on the president's desk, watching in his side-view that the secret service agents placed their hands casually upon their sidearms as he does.

- "I-.. It is simply a minor setback, Mr. President. It will function as you have instructed - b-but we simply need to find a new method of dispersing the microbes."
- "Explain, Rheinhart." Zachary replies, unamused and exhaling a torrent of thick cigar smoke.
- "The Geobacteria we are working with was originally first discovered in the North Atlantic Ocean, in nineteen-sixtyeight. It is a microbial bacteria which use insoluble Fe-three oxide as an electron acceptor. This causes a chemical degradation in the carbon and nutrient cycles of metal and in the bioremediation of organic and metal contaminants in saltwater."
- "English, Rheinhart."
- "Saltwater! The microbes only degrade metal in large bodies of saltwater! Even then, we'll have to mutate and increase the microbes' aggressiveness in terms of eating the metal - and even then, we are faced with the organic degradation, as the microbes will, as a bi-product, also corrode organic material just as quickly as they will metal."
- "I see.." Zachary replies, looking down upon his alligator-skin shoes with a mild frown.

- "H-however!" Dr. Rheinhart responds nervously.
- "Whilst the geobacter metallireducens specifically expresses flagella and pili only when grown on insoluble Fe-three or Mn-four oxide, and is only chemotactic towards Fe-two and Mn-two under these conditions, it would be fully possible to counter this obstacle by dispersing the microbes in gaseous saltwater. We could synthezise a gas, containing and keeping the geobacter metallireducenes active. With the pre-mentioned mutations, it would be highly effective. It would just take some time."

President Zachary nods, raising his head once more with a sparkling glimmer in his eyes. With a smile he states:
- "Very good, Dr. Rheinhart. You have convinced me. You'll receive your annual funding, and I'll be raising security in these facilities whilst you continue with your progress. Continue with your work."

As Zachary puts out his cigar and leaves the observation post with his retinue, Dr. Rheinhart falls to his knees, breathing heavily in anxiety.

- "Oh god, what have I done?"

Exclusive: Primes accelerate plans for Re-animation of Arc colonist

In a statement released by Nova Prime today, she was very blunt in stating that a state of emergency could soon exist if unified actions weren't soon taken. In information gathered by the Guardians of Truth reveal that the Arc's primary power module, a Zero Point Module which is used to power the Arc's systems has been heavily damaged. The exact cause of the damage is unknown, but the Primes have stated that if plans to reanimate the populace aren't completed within the next 2 years, then there could be a great disaster and loss of life.

The Primes say have no fear however. They have planned new expansions to the living capacities on New Mecca with the city of Jerusalem being planned to be built in the new couple of months. There are also plans to build a new habitats on Qana and the newly discovered Kessel. The exact time frame remains a mystery however. These expansions are said to be done in stages which will allow pressure to be relieved off the overworked ZPM which should allow more time to find a more stable solution.

The honesty and transparency of the report gives new rise to the urgency. With the procreation ban soon about to expire, there will be much competition amongst those in cyrosleep and those who wish to truly start new lives in the Norma galaxy.

UAS Science Division Looks Upwards

In an effort to continue to find suitable planets to colonize, missions have been planned to move across the stars to look for signs of life. This initiative, has taken the men and women of the High Guard Fleet to new distant reaches. The crews have become quite popular among the would be space travelers and colonist. Their stories help fuel the thirst for knowledge and the desire to expand upwards.

The science division has stated that because of this new more effective method of scanning the stars. Research into the lost tech of String Theory offers the chance to make scientific breakthroughs faster than imagined. This all falls in place with the Primes' plans to map our star system and find new avenues for expansion. The future looks bright if not challenging, but through Unity and Cooperation we can all prosper.

Within reason.

Hey,

By the way, I own GalCiv 3. What this means is that I have a custom ship designer! If anyone wants me to try and make a spiffy looking ship, I could!

Within reason.

Sure you do. I'd might believe you if you didn't have An Evil Liar & Lying through my Teeth over on the left. :D

Thats sweet to have. I use pencil and the 1st in my game box. Star Frontiers, Star Blazers, G.U.R.P.S. something. Plus do you really want someone knowing your designs? :shifty:

Our findings on the specimen from the alpha moon were rather interesting Dr. Zwigle, and I think that the Scientific Commision back on the planet will be more than willing to extend the deadline for the research being conducted here. The sentient organisms of this moon, who I do not see why we do not refer to as humans, show certain unique features, such as the lack of navels, which were not passed down to the next generation biologically, leading our experts to believe that they were created mechanically. While our old specimen were released, and even though I was opposed to this at first, I can see the genius behind this decision. Unfortunately, we will propably be unable to conduct the same tests to these new organisms in regards to short - term timescales, but we will perhaps be able in time to convice them over time that their genetic and cybernetic modifications could help us discover the ancient knowledge of humanity.

Your comments have been noted and will be passed to my superiors in the Scientific Commision. Meanwhile, you and your personell must stand ready to receive further orders from the President in regards to our talks with the natives of the moon. Should things go as good as our anthropologists expect, your department will be requested to co - operate with the medical department of the Alpha Moon in order to teach basic biological and medical skills to these people while preventing the spread of any unwanted diseases to our people. While the organisms of this moon are safe from any disease due to their genetic modifications, we can't be sure if they carry anything dangerous to us.

More Questions:

Space units can be built and used on the same turn correct? I notice that there was mention of space units being built in the update, but I'm also guessing that the players were able to use them.

Yes.

For the sensor tech, you only need to boost a planet reading to level 2 sensors if you need to overcome stealth, so you essentially only need 1 sensor to get the necessary information(Class and resources) from a non-stealth system correct?

Yes.

Can cargo routes be made for multiple systems? IE I have 1 cargo transport but I need to move within my own system AND to another system. Would I need 1 cargo transport per system or anything under the 10x rule is fine? Or does the 10x rule not apply to cargo as I saw somewhere that cargo transport was unlimited?

1 per the whole route. Not 1 per system.

Are there any differences(outside of efficiency) for using different mining types? There isn't much of a cost difference between basic and helium mining but I would imagine that the latter would deplete a planet faster.

No- its just numbers. You can even call your helium mining something else if you want to for RP reasons. The stats stay the same though.

We can agree to this if we both were met as equals, thus being allowed to settle a colony on your solar system.

We can agree to this.

Of course, in order for this finer part of our discussion to become a realisation, we will have to exchange planetary and logicistic informations about our solar systems so that:
a) our supply routes are not delayed by the arrival of our respective ships and
b) so that we can create new colonies on celestial bodies within the respective solar system of each other without having the need to waste sensors.

Thus, if you are to agree on these terms, we would require some time ((1 turn)) in order to acquire further information about our solar system and hand it over to you so that you may decide where to settle, something that we hope will be met with information of similar quality about your solar system.

So you are offering an exchange of 'maps' in [1 turn]?

Err... I don't know what you are talking about!

"Do you realize the implications of this?" The General asked.

"Some of them" The Director sighed, he seemed to have aged noticeably in just the past few days.

"The full implications are essentially incalculable. Certainly including, but not limited to, the future of the entire human race."

"What about getting help?"

"If this contingency has to be enacted, and fails, the other colonies will be informed. So that they can prepare themselves. No help could reach us in time even if they were to send it, which is doubtful."

"You realize that the expedition is a total shot in the dark? There's no way of knowing if we'll even be able to impact the... Materials... involved."

"Then let's hope the SDT succeeds"

Both men, powerful men who had watched the death of a civilization, turned to look anxiously at the status displays.

- Alexander Iwao, Big Boss of Kyushu

Alexander was sitting on his office. He was typing on his laptop:

Dear Nick and Yamato, Chief Executives of Expansion

There is a need to start exploiting the resources of other planets in our star system. For this reason, you should send drones to collect some data on the conditions of the other planets of our star system. It is vital to have a, generic at least, idea of what is going on there. You should send the data directly to me and keep it a secret from anyone else.

With regards,

Alexander Iwao

After sending this email, Alexander begun typing another letter.

Dear Kashino, Colonel of Secret Police

Chief Oyama of the Secret Police should be assassinated. He has been heading the Secret Police for too much time and he is beginning to become a threat for me. Other Chiefs lasted only one year before being assassinated, but Oyama lasted longer because he was a childhood friend of mine. However, I cannot take the risk of letting his establish his power.

I shall call him to my office tomorrow. You will wait here and when he enters the room, grab him and strangle him. Then feed him to the dogs so there is no trace of him. Mr. Ruchang shall become the new Chief of Police after this assassination. Do not tell him what happened to Oyama.

With regards,

Alexander Iwao

Your stats should include a particle accelerator and an orbital shipyard. Orbital shipyard does everything an orbital dock can do AND MORE!

I have a feeling that Alexander Iwao is looking to requisition funds for a project that doesn't need doing, and if I know anything about Nick and Yamato, is that if they find out about his corruption and theft, the results will not be pretty for Alexander, no not at all.

I will send new orders now. Also, I will edit my RP.

A Short Social Dictionary of the Great Pilgrimage,

Part I: Clades

Clade: The basic category of social group that the significant majority of Pilgrims belong to. Like the phyla of old (which likely inspired the name) a clade is voluntary social grouping, mostly tied to some form of either ideology or socio-cultural nature. The origins of the clade system are not clearly documented, but are believed to date to between 50 and 150 Migrant, as a successor to the original phyle and crews system used by pre-Pilgrimage sociality. Individuals are not formally restricted to one clade, however most individuals will generally identify with one clade of a given category (IE, Ideological, cultural, familial)

Clades are typically named for their founder; usually an individual of persuasive Philosophy, Socia-Cultural behaviour or reproductive fruitfulness, although this is not a hard and fast rule, with some preferring vessel names (particularly for early converts from the crew system, or the name of their Migrant Ship), or place names (most common since reaching Crossroad).

Examples (not necessarily the largest or most notable) include:

Clade Deona: originally a common clade used by individuals lacking membership in a specific clade, Clade Deona was more formally structured in 387 Migrant, as part of the Reformation. Today, Clade Deona members are specifically tied to the ideologies of Deona Kryv herself. A mild religious worldview, which holds that God created and maintains the universe as part of a grand plan, and that the universe should be explored both for its own sake, and to located clues and patterns into the working and mind of God, allowing for closer personally closeness to God

Clade Kryv: A familial Clade founded in 534 Migrant, composed of descendants of Deona Kryv. Primarily formed by outside veneration of Deona. Membership is limited to blood relations and marriage.

Clade Icarion: Strong Religious, which believes in the possibility of eventually transcending current mortal understanding and nature to become something far, far more. Named for the mysterious Icarus Rising message of 132 Migrant.

Clade Thenesia: Social clade, with an indifferent viewpoint of religion. Considers exploration and discovery to be largely its own reward, or as personal or artistic inspiration.

Clade Corazon: Militaristic social Clade, with a strong emphasis on the eventual return to the Local Bubble and Earth. Considers exploration and discovery important, primarily for the potential betterment of humanity, and for any potential discoveries that might aid in reclaiming Earth.

Clade Morena: Cultural clade, primarily focused on antique Earth culture. Commonly consider themselves (half seriously) as the preservers of ancient culture and lore, particularly for old science-fiction. Currently de facto dominant on Serenity.

Clade Sarah: Social clade, which believe than non-terran intelligence and life are of particularly important to understand, both from a scientific viewpoint, as well as a universal one. Dream of the day that intelligent alien life may be discovered and contacted. Currently closely tied with classified state-operations.

Clade Naphi: Religious, believing that every individual is marked by a specific destiny (referred to a their Philosophy for the 'quest' and Discovery for the final goal), and that the goal of each person is to first discover their personal Philosophy, then track down the clues to find their Discovery (which can vary significantly in nature and scope). Generally considered somewhat obsessive, but not not overly bad sorts along as their Philosophy doesn't lead them anywhere too dangerous. Typically not considered a good choice for positions of authority, reasons of safety.

Clade Terra: Radical faction, very similar to the Terran Federation. Currently, opinions tend to mirror Federation views to the point that commentators believe members may be parroting new casts from there. Number unknown, but estimated in the dozens (of individuals), but very noisy on the Datalinks. Very, very noisy.

Hey,

Not on the Tier Tree.

High Energy Manufacturing Complex
Tech: Ion Acceleration
Resource Cost: 400
Industry Cost: 600
Habitat Cost: 50
High energy manufacturing complexes consume 100 resources and produce 200 industry.

EDIT:

This is the only habitat for Class D planets. And only 1 at that. Is that right?

Dome Habitat
Tech: Nanofied Z radiation
Resource Cost: 200
Industry Cost: 200
Habitat Capacity: 80
Provides breathable atmosphere at pressure when none exists under a reinforced nanofield Z shell. Life-support tends to be tightly regulated for maximal efficiency.
Build 1 on a class C or D planets, or up to 2 on class F and K planets, and 3 on class G, H, and P planets. Subterranean and standard and thermal dome habitats compete with each other for these limits.

Blaze Injun

I assume Ion Acceleration is Tier 2.

D is the "totally barren ball of rock" class so I'd expect a very low capacity. Thermal/Energy Ablative Domes could probably be used instead if you somehow had access to them but not basic ones. I would've thought it would be 1 dome or 1 subterranean habitat.
