Greetings, Immortals and would-be Immortals (and indeed any other players of any level), and welcome to the Immortal University.

Here is our Leader:

Here's the opening scene:

The following settings were used to create this map:

And the Demographics for people to spot any info they can:

Before we start, here's the copy & paste bit where I get to pretend that I'm TMIT:

To play, just extract the WB save file into your worldbuilder saves directory, then play it. Use custom scenario if you want some extra settings to tickle your fancy. This series was designed for people learning immortal, so most people here will be at that level or trying to attain it, although deity players are welcome also. Hell, if you want to play this on NOBLE. The intention of this and any other game thread I post is to get better. Play whatever level you need in order to improve.

If you are aspiring IMM+, try to remember to add archery back to the barbs in WB. Every time you don't, a deity AI will kill a kitten, although there are a lot of kittens so it's not the end of the world if you prefer easymode barbs.

I do request people to list their difficulty and speed. In terms of updates, well nobody follows that anyway. Post in the manner you feel comfortable. Typical comparison dates are 1 AD, liberalism, and victory/defeat, as well as any major events. If in doubt, go with that.

We also have an initial Immortal/Normal autosave which is much more convenient since you can avoid all the worldbuilder shenanigans. It comes with my personal seal of approval (not least as my worldbuilder edits may contain hideous game-destroying errors that could cause your computer to explode).

Spoiler :
Some small details of the map.
Spoiler :
Its Islands mapscript. I cooked some food in since the map was clearly food poor. I didn't change any land shapes. AI teamcolor and one leadername is changed.

Have fun Immortals!

Yikes, not even any seafood to boost a GLH start. We have the two weakest food resources in the game and each require a different tech. I'm kind of at a loss for how to start this game.

12 cities. 175 commerce in TR.

Not a mistake, just a challenge. Not all maps need to be straight-forward and easy.

Yeah, IU maps should be more challenging than NC and SoM maps -right :crazyeye:? And from the screenshots of Soundjata, the map looks really exotic and I'm happy with it. Will play it on Monarch, I'll start Monday. By the way, what do you guys like of..
Spoiler :
Only for those who have met an AI in this game.
Spoiler :
..the exotic AI teamcolor?

I'm trying this map 2nd time now. Just settled my 2nd city and I noticed that it got connected to my capital, but I don't have neiter The Wheel nor Sailing yet. There must be something to do with culture. But in many other games where city cultures touched each other I didn't get the connection.

A question - when does culture connect cities into trade network and when does it not?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Coastline tiles inside your capital culture connect cities even without Sailing IIRC.

@ Robert Fin: Lovely colors. Refreshing indeed!

Cleopatra alone with the AP, way behind in tech.

7 cities Saladin is contesting Liberalism. We should get it first for Steel

Would be :crazyeye: to see someone win without building it (praet rush?)

Sorry guys. I tried to edit one leadername but it turned to disaster. If you downloaded your game file before this message you can fix it by:
Spoiler :
Open your current save in notepad. Then press Ctrl+F and type in "TXT_KEY_LEADER_CLEOPATRA". Change that to "Cleopatra" and you'll get the right leadername after saving the file in notepad.

Otherwise just download my new, fixed files.

Robert, did you forget to add the correct techs to barbs after you re-uploaded the save? I ran into barb city filled with nothing but warriors. At Monarch + they all spawn with Archers.
