Immortal University 99 - Genghis Khan

He's one of the best AI leaders on Imm and Deity, right there with Sury.

this is indeed true. Most IMP AI leaders are strong

Immortal 1535 Conquest
Spoiler :
My first game ever as Genghis on any difficulty. The lack of commerce made this an interesting map. I usually play maps with riverside starts or gold/gems.

Built three cities and chariot rushed Ragnar while researching HBR (my original plan was Keshiks but I couldn't get the beakers required for that). After crushing him my economy crashed and at worst I was at -22 gpt at 0%. I was second to HBR and traded that to backfill quite a lot. Also bulbed philo and despite being second to that also, I managed to trade it also to catch up.

Libbed MT around 1000 and attacked Justinian who was at war with Hatty. He had 17 cities but he was the only Buddhist while the rest of the world was Jewish so the was extremely backwards in tech because only I traded with him. Had the religion distribution been different, this map would have been much more difficult. Took four cities including the 30 gpt Buddhist shrine capital and another city with MOM. Unfortunately he made peace with Hatty and rolled his 30+ stack towards my new capital Nidaros which was defended by a solitary chariot. Had to make peace with him and tech to Rifles with the help of longer golden ages.

After rifles I capped Justinian and prepared to take Hatty and her vassal Washington but Zara asked to become my vassal state before I DOWed because he was losing a war to a 5 city Charlie. Capped Charlie quickly and prepared once again to attack Hatty and Washington from two fronts. Washington broke free from Hatty one turn before I was going to DOW so I attacked and capped him first. Finally crushed Hatty who still didn't have rifling because she went for Astro, Democracy and Communism.

In the end I didn't have to fight a single AI with rifling in this game. Fairly easy victory even though the start looked difficult.

Immortal 1320 Conquest

Spoiler :

I ended up getting all of the relevant marble wonders with TGL, MoM, Parthenon, and later the Taj. I used my great prophet to start a golden age as soon as i finished Nationalism, 2 great scientists were used to bulb parts of Edu and Lib, and 2 GMs ran trade missions.

I took MT with Lib in 740 AD, and attacked Justinian somewhere around 900 AD after waiting for my merchants to finish their missions.

I made a funny little gaffe that temporarily lost me a city.

Spoiler :

I didn't realize Justinian had HAs in the fog on the end of my peninsula and there were lots of roads over there from previous barb cities allowing him to swoop right in.

Something pretty awesome happened while i was fighting Justinian.

Spoiler :

It's not everyday a civ with 10 cities asks to become your vassal!
Civ4ScreenShot0015_zpsd7e0ecc7.jpg

I had to trigger a huge world war to continue as Zara capped to Charlie and then Washington peace vassaled in the span of a couple turns. That stack was maybe 2/3 of my Cuirs, the rest were healing or in transit.

Charlie had a ton of units for Immortal, but i eventually bludgeoned my way through it with cuirs and then cavalry. I was picking off the occasional Ethiopian city while fighting Charlie too, and i wiped out his last city around the same time that Charlie finally capitulated. Washington got rolled over in a few turns once i finally got over there to him.

Izuul, are you on an SGOTM team? Phoenix Rising is going to strengthen their line-up significantly with a bunch of deity pros. Would be great to have you on the team as well...

No, I've never done any SGOTM. Can i contribute without actually playing turns?

I believe so! Would you not like to play turns or is this because of a technical issue?

I may have technical issues and I think I would prefer to maybe just help with a game once to get my feet wet before playing turns. I really don't know a great deal about SGOTM.

Ok, good. I like the attitude. Was the same as mine last season which was my first season as well. I could find my way into the format much quicker than anticipated but I, too, needed technical support. Gumboldt, our captain, will contact you shortly. Looking for to playing with you. I've always enjoyed you input in ther past and found it pretty useful.

Least spell my name right Pepe26!!! This is better done in PM. It's a bit off topic!

Spoiler :

Yeah, I dunno...

Libbed MT, upgraded a bunch of Keshiks to Cuirassiers, Killed the right part of the map -> Hatshepsut. Was ready to steamroll Justinian + Ragnar with Cannon+Cavalry, but won by religious votes (I know, lame).

"Before we start, here's the bit where I get to pretend that I'm Klonoklown pretending to be TMIT:"

:D

Lol, good stuff. Sorry I haven't been around lately to continue the series but I'm glad Izuul stepped in and helped. I had a lot of RL stuff going around and no time for Civ. :(

@ Izuul

If you need any help or a hand sometime let me know, I'll check in periodically.

Emperor/Normal/NHNE until 400 AD
Spoiler :
SIP and researched Agriculture, AH and Pottery. Sometimes when commerce is really bad, like on this map, getting Pottery before BW can be a better option than BW first. I also injected Mysticism between Mining and BW, because I wanted to get border pops somehow. And before going for HBR, I decided to take Writing and even managed to pop a GS who then settled an Academy in the food-rich capital. I checked some of your posts about early BC years guys and I guess I did really wrong by laying down 5 cities + capturing one barb cities before going for a Keshik rush against Ragnar.

Raggie is almost finished now; I guess he only has one city in some place I'm not aware of. But I'm stuck in no-man's-land now without Currency and without Alphabet. But there's hope that the war effort may continue. Justinian hates me because of religion, he doesn't have Feudalism yet and he's equal to me in power:

I'll give a try.

Your 400AD save is winnable. Take peace for the techs, build research everywhere, emphasize commerce (it's not necessary to work a cow or a pig for example, rather work coast), move units inside cultural borders and maybe delete some units. Reach currency in ~13 turns.
