Imperial Glory

Though we are a fair distance away, England will of course respect Switzerlands neutrality.

OOC: I wonder if anyone else ever tried this if people would take them seriously.

Have I established a colony, or were my orders not used?

Courland, if it matters or not, respects Switzerland's neutrality. We would like to follow the same route.. albeit, it is doubtful we would be acknowledged.

I am slightly confused with the map EQ, I hate to be annoying but, do I (Courland) own part of Nigeria now?

In my original orders, it was to land an make some headway, but I revised them, and ignored that. I'm assuming it's another nation's colony, but after checking in Paint, it is the same color as Courland, and my other colonies. If you did decide to give me some land, you've forgot to include it on the Front Page.

If it's just a mistake, sorry about that haha, but feel free to give it to me. :P

@LizardKing: you have a colony on the Niger River. The colony is listed in my copy of the stats, are you sure you didn't just miss it? I believe I gave it a different name in stats and in the update.

@Abaddon, I'm sorry, but I didn't see any orders from you. What nation were you sending them for?

@spryllino, I think we can have a little more leeway with children for the moment, but I leave that up to the individual (within reason of course, they aren't vending machines!)

@TheWesley: Sorry, but they don't want more useless desert. They've got enough already.

@Charles Li: No one's forcing you out, they just aren't listening to you, the reasons should be clear enough in the update, but to clarify, the military (mostly) doesnt want everyone trained because it costs a LOT more money and time. The people don't want to be trained because they'd rather be doing other stuff, like farming and providing for their mostly poor families.

We are willing to agree to peace at current borders if paid 10 EP for damages.

Pretty sure almost everyone at this time is poor, especially germans...

Then we will drive you into the sea.

Orders re-sent. I sent them on the 8th.

I understand if you can't include me into the update.. but I would be sad.. it would only take you 5 ticks to edit me in.. prwetty please?

EQ- Sorry about the trouble, but can I get their replies as diplo? I want to decide how to respond.

Protectorates and vassals of the Sultan and Caliph himself should not think to refuse orders just because they think they won't work! I am deposing your governments- if you resist, you shall be justly executed.

Switzerland would like to thank everybody who recognises our neutrality, whether they have made it known or not.

We would also like to point out that a neutral state would be a good place to hold any interests one might have during times of war.

@TheWesley: So are you drunk or do you just really hate the Ottoman Empire? There's a third option of course, but I'll let that remain implied. Let's take it point by point shall we.

1. You've asked two countries to expand into useless desert. They are your protectorates not your slaves, they do not have to obey, and plus, you took their money for your own spending (That's what the +4 EP is in you Protectorate section of your stats). Were they supposed to finance things with shiny rocks and pebbles? That's not even going into the lack of any rational reason to expand into, once again, sand and dust.

2. This is more nitpicky than anything, but generally you shouldn't tell someone you're going to take away all of their power and sovereignty. It's usually better to sneak up with that sort of thing.

3. Lastly, are you SURE you're capable of handling a major power? Being a relatively new player, you may not have the insight of a more established NESer. There are more minor powers which I would prefer you would take. If all you care about is being the biggest baddy on the block, that's too damn bad, at the current rate you're not likely to have much power anyways in a few turns. I personally was hoping that we'd have an Ottoman Empire with at least some legitimacy and strength for the bulk of the NES, not just the first two turns.

I don't hate the Ottoman Empire- I admit I have been below par since the Malta incident, but that's because I don't cope well with defeat.

1. You said that countries can establish colonies through military force- I assumed they would do so.

2. I was planning to either have the prestige of them cowardly accepting, or more likely the prestige of a military victory to compensate for the Malta incident.

3. Having a major power is my only chance of actually surviving- I'd probably do much worse with a minor. I'm going to keep with the Ottomans until my posistion is (in game terms) untenable.

1. LoL

2. That is assuming you can acheive a military victory

3. Actually you are more likely to die a horrible death as a major power considering you just randomly decided to invade Sicily. What were the aims of this invasion? Other than to piss of every single European nation and remove any chance of a relationship you had with them. If you were some small little place and you decided, on a whim, to invade Sicily, I'm pretty sure they would have just laughed and patted you on the head. So in conclusion.
