At the exact same time we're trying to hammer out a border between you and Rus' in private, you go and do that.

Please change it to something more moderate.

i just claimed these two to have a cleaner looking border, but if you insist... :(

England is certain that it speaks for all of Christendom when it says that you will respect the mandate of the Bishop of Rome, His Holiness the Pope, Voice of Christ on Earth on penalty of a holy war against your treacherous and scandalous practices which fly in the face of the Lord God.

Lord-Protector of England and the Confederation, Aethelred the Warborne

Should sea routes, channels and straits bring extra gold

i dont think so. i thought about charging people every time a military(civilians are free) navy uses Byzantine ports or crosses the Bosporus. itll only be one gold, but i seriously doubt its a good idea.

Is there anyway to get my stuff that I posted after CivG and Tailless's updates but before Joe's update recognized?

I put all my money into military tech and here's my claims:

PM CivG/tailless about it and they should fix it up ;)

The Lord-Protector of England was merely referring to "oh yeah and you can't expand north. Sorry." comment. His comment was well warranted, heathen.

 you forbade me to expand south, so i forbade you to expand north. sounds fair.

Announcing the Ascension of a new Archbishop of Canterbury
In Northumbria, the death of natural causes of the previous Archbishop has led to the ascension of a new Archbishop, the Revered John Tullman. He shall now be the representative and overseer of His Holiness the Bishop of Rome in England. Accepting the blessing of his oversight by the Lord-Protector, his reign as the Archbishop has begun with the commission of several new churches throughout the Confederation including its new territories in Wales and Normandy.

He has had less than positive things to say about the Orthodox establishment in Byzantium, which has again sought to defame the Pope, Voice of Christ on this Earth.

gee, thanks Joe! now i have to find out if i can surrender.

What, for a game that takes place in the 1500's, wouldn't you expect religion to be a casus belli?

I offer an alliance with Mathalamus the great, emperor of Byzantium

actually its Emperor Barabas I. no suffix.

and yes i accept.

joe: going to war over religion is immature and never successful.

Emperor of Xian, you have thus far showed yourself to be a wise man. Do not make yourself a fool by allying with the liars and heathens of the accursed land of Turkey.

And to the Great "Emperor" of the Byzantines, please reconsider the idea that we are equals.

 you forbade me to expand south, so i forbade you to expand north. sounds fair.

Implied here that since I tell you to do something, you can tell me to do something, hence we are equals in your eyes.

You guys are trying to affix modern beliefs and practices on the late medieval period. At this time, the western world was on the majority under the control of Catholicism, and thus the Pope or Bishop of Rome. Expecting countries of religions that directly conflict or are historic enemies to get along is ridiculous in context, considering that even in the "modern world", there is still a large amount of religious conflict between even denominations of the same faith. If anything you should expect large amounts of religious conflicts seeing as we're very quickly dividing our reality into different religious alliances.
