Gentlemen, both Iberian and from all over the World, I am glad to be here today to officially open the 1929 World Expo which is being hosted in Barcelona.

This is not only an event with economical views; it is also the showcase of many nations to show their culture to the rest of the world and a place for science to exhibit its latest advancements. It is also a celebration of the rise of Iberia, a new country formed merely five years ago which has known how to combine the best of its distinct cultures and ways to see the World. In these five years, our joint economy has nearly doubled, and we’re back among the most powerful nations of Europe and the World.

It is now that we’re back to the wagon of the World-leading nations that we remember the hardness of leadership, and it is now when we look back at these five years and we see how we dealt with the polemic and potentially disruptive union. Under the values of the Christian faith, under the sacred values of respect for each other’s life and rights and personal choices, of charity and solidarity, that we avoided stepping onto the toes of our people. We do now stand together, stronger in unity, either culturally, militarily and economically.

It is through this event which we are all attending that we want to project our country, Iberia, its cultural and economical particularities and its history towards the brave new World that is shaping both within and beyond our borders. Because Iberia isn’t as much as a nation-state as a federation of nations, which has been the key to maintaining social peace throughout the last decade. In sight of the spectacular results of this policy, I announce here and now that Rif and Río de Oro are officially federated nations of the Kingdom of Iberia. As such they will have a local government with decision power in cultural matters.

Together in unity, a unity based in the respect of difference and human rights, we hope to extend the growth of the peninsular economy to our overseas regions, and it is in this spirit that these year the government will reduce its spending on industry and infrastructure to focus in financial growth and social unity.

We hope that through these our actions we can become an example of the modern nation to the rest of the World, and because of that this is the largest World Expo yet, with nearly all nations in the World heaving their own pavilion as well as the invited country of Ethiopia, which in this last decade has modernised to European standard, and for this feat deserves that honour.

Thanks for your attention, and the 1929 Barcelona World Expo is now open.

First news have arrived that some treaties and commercial contracts have already been signed, but there is a rumour about an important deal between the Iberian and US treasuries.

The Treasure of the Kingdom of Iberia has formalised a treaty by which it buys an amount of US debt. This amount nears half of US GDP and is far over half of the Treasury’s funds for the year. The Secretary of the Treasury has said that this treaty has been formalised under such conditions that the return will greatly outweigh the immediate cost of this new investment in a foreign countries finances. The most pressing one is the cut in all government programs.

Addressing the concerns of our journalist, the Secretary has stated that: “We have used money from a spare fund for emergencies. No services will be affected by this new policy, and it is indeed only the army which will resent of the cuts since all investment in military research has been thoroughly put on hold for the current fiscal year. The state will maintain its funding of public education, its investments in infrastructures and its stimulus plan to economy.

“This new approach to global economics certifies the new self-assumed position of Iberia as a bank for other nations. We’re taking a financial approach to budget spending, and both Ethiopia and the US have already benefitted from this approach, although from radically different positions and with completely different financial products.

“In spite of this, Iberia still holds its manufacturing sector and productive economy as the main source of income. We’re a country, not a corporation, and despite growth having stagnated for the last year and presumably this one, it has been due to a strong investment in a railroad connecting Lisboa, Madrid and Barcelona to France with European-standard railroads. This will allow for a faster transportation of goods along the continent and favour the newly modernised ports of Lisbon and Barcelona in front of Northerner competitors.”

In a related note, Iberia has signed a free trade treaty with France, granting no tolls to goods crossing over the border in any sense, which the Secretary of the Treasury has related to the new Lisboa-Bilbao-Bordeaux and Barcelona-Montpellier railroads and the costly expansion of these ports. It is presumed that the reduction in costs derived from the treaty and the extended railroad infrastructure will position Iberian ports better than nearby competitors, attracting more cargo ships to funnel commerce through the strategically located Iberian Peninsula.

These treaties apparently have been signed in the frame of the World Expo, as a gesture of the government to invest it with a greater signification than it might actually have.

Iberia, watch this space...

Edit: Nedim, RP still counts even though orders are locked right?

Argh... I had the hope that you'd be away enough time not to ruin MY Expo!:(

Indeed you are. Unless he can pull off the best piece of RP ever seen and 20 EPs from under the stones.

Also, I remind you of my request to see your war plans. :p

Will do once the war is over. Security and all of that.

Also, US elections. Should be interesting to see how that works out. ANP success is probably dependent on how this year goes.

Nedim shove everything into my economy and bank that last one.

MAKE THE GAME EASIER FOR ME

"Good morning America, I'm here to tell you a great truth. When the ANP and Republican Party formed the war coalition, I promised that the war in South America would change. Well, guess what? I have a gift for you all.

The American flag flies over Caracas.

More information will come shortly."

Nope. Maybe in a couple of days.

I hope so. Knowing Nedim, it might be even three days.
