The Leaders of Thailand:

Emperor Rama XXVII

KG0k79C.jpg

Rama is the successor of a long line of Thai Kings. After the collapse of Thailand and the death of his father, Rama XXVI, Rama XXVII took the throne, organized the forces loyal to the Thai crown and launched a series of wars against the various local warlords. With cunning diplomacy and rapid campaigns, he was able to unify Thailand. The violence in nearby Vietnam and the expansion of Japan in Indochina led the few remaining Warlords to swear allegiance to Rama, and now Thailand is a united nation. Rama is considered an incarnation (Avatar) of Buddha and he is a Bodhisattva (enlightened one), therefore basing his rule on his religious power, his moral power and his purity of blood. The Emperor is a semi-divine figure and an object of worship and veneration to his people.

Chancellor Yingjang Shinawatra

Yingjang Shinawatra is the Chancellor of Thailand, the highest position after that of the Emperor. Yingjang Shinawatra has served for many years Rama. He was responsible for the unification of Thailand, as he used cunning diplomacy and the threat of Japan to unify the Warlords, as well as military campaigns, when needed, against those who refused to submit to the Thai Crown. As Chancellor, Yingjang Shinawatra administers both foreign and domestic affairs. He is a supporter of the absolute monarchy and the "Indochina Doctrine", according to which Thailand will be isolated from the rest of the world and will intervene only in matters that concern Indochina (like Vietnam, Laos and Malacca).

General of Light Sukhumbhand Paribatra

The General of the Light, Sukhumbhand Paribatra, is the man responsible for the successful outcome of the Wars of Unification. Although the Chancellor Yingjang Shinawatra was the one who with his cunning diplomacy managed to isolate his enemies and decide the favorable time to go to war, Sukhumbhand Paribatra was the one who commanded the military operations. He has shown great skill as a military commander, despite his young age, and is nicknamed the "Thunder" because all his military campaigns were rapid and decisive.

MISSION TO JAPAN

The War in the East has been concluded. The Empire of Japan has fallen, and their citizens, weary after so much warfare and illness, now have Anarchy to deal with on top of their other issues. A vast percentage of the population has been affected by the destruction.

In these times, we must show empathy to the people across the sea. Though they may not have accepted Christ into their lives, they are still God's creation. For this reason, the Hospitaller Order has decided to create the Mission to Japan. The Mission to Japan shall see members of the Order sail to Japan and establish a hospital where the wounded and ill can receive treatment for no cost. The Order shall heal their bodies, sooth their minds, and save their souls.

CLOSING OF THE ISLAND OF MALTA

The Island of Malta will be closed to both foreign and domestic travel during the month of May. Civilian residents of the island are encouraged to travel to other parts of the Order's domains, and will be given means to travel and a temporary residence on the Malvinas.

Malta will be the site of an intensive military training exercise by the Order. This includes certain segments involving live fire.

For this reason, we also advise foreign vessels to avoid the territorial waters of the island of Malta, as coastal defense practice will be included in the training. This will involve the use of dummy ships to be fired upon. Vessels within the area may be fired upon, confused for said dummy ships.

I surrender to Robert Can't's stubborness. Given that he doesn't accept my version of what my territories are I will have to adapt to his map. For this turn I claim Guam/Micronesia, the remaining island in Hawaii, the Galapagos and the island a bit northwest, I shall suppose it's Clipperton.
I still have a doubt, however. In the last stats it said I could have yet more 4 claims. Is this still valid? You said the stats would be redone and you haven't posted them in turn 10.

Players start by claiming 8 territories on the map
Players may claim up to 4 unaligned territories per turn under the following conditions:
- Microstates (single-pixel regions) are considered half-value, so two may be claimed for the price of one.
- Large territories (Canada, Siberia, Australia, etc.) count as three territories each.
- Claiming territories that are not contiguous with a player's capital counts as two territories each. * When a colony of 12 connected territories is established, the cost is reduced 1 each for neighbouring regions.
The GM reserves the right to final determination of the map without explanation.

Roman nuclear program

Emperor Theodoros komenos, has revealed, for the Empires own protection, of a nuclear weapons program started last season.

essentially, it involves converting thorium 232 to Uranium 233, and using that for nuclear weapons.

the Emperor, though, has stated that it is for its own protection in a world where many nations dislike the Empire. we would not use it unless we really had no choice. and we certainly wont use it against enemy civilian targets.

work on it was started a season ago, and may take years to complete, especially since we cant test it to see if it actually works.

Germany is pleased to announce that a great amount of progress has been made in the Autobahn reconstruction. All major routes have finished construction, and total completion of the highway is expected to be finished by the end of September.

In addition, Kaiserin Claudia has announced new plans to modernize and expand the German Navy. Several new warships have been commissioned for service, and many existing models are being sent back to the dry docks for much needed maintenance. German shipyards, fresh from manufacturing warships for neighboring Poland, is expected to complete the order in record time.

I think that from now on this rule shouldn't apply the single province islands. The rule basically prevents spamming over continents but in my case it doesn't make sense that in a country with more boats than planes And cars it should be double the cost to claim an island 50 times smaller than some standard province. (last stats show that Oceania has 10 million people and according to stats 40% have a boat as someone else would have a car. Nauru's coastline as I showed in a post some days ago is covered by shipyards, and companies make boats in models as they would do in cars (the most common model is the Polia - Manu'a, which has 32% market share))
Even if I don't play Oceania in next OT, which I probably won't, the rule ought to change..

First you didn't know or didn't care the rule existed (despite it being in the OP), and now you're saying that because you disagree with a rule you either have to admit didn't notice or didn't care existed, it should be removed.

:crazyeye: If you even thought for a second that you could convince a gm to change the rules of their game when it has gotten this popular and long-lived for your own convenience then you got another thing coming.

I just said that it wasn't for my convenience. That's way I said that even if I don't play again oceania or some type of sea nation the next time it ought to be changed, although it probably won't be convenient to me the next time, it could be changed.
I mean, rules shouldn't stop being being changed silly because they are rules, or because someone is popular and this somehow correlates. I think genuinely that the change per se is a good idea, don't you? Single province islands do not have extra cost because as they are so small the cost is less. Its perfectly logical, imho… Now if you want to close your minds in tradition I guess there is nothing I can do about it.

Lets end this discussion here.

The rules stay as they are. Upon joining the game all players should agree to abide by the rules. That being a meta rule see the IOT Constitution.

Right. This naked disregard for international law. You're going to have to shut this operation down.

Regardless of international recognition of international law being broken, international law is in fact being broken. We will not repeat ourselves. This is not diplomatic lobbying that suggests Rome comply. Shut down the program or Russian soldiers will do it for you.

Rome should definitely not be allowed to develop military nuclear technology, just as anybody else who tries. The Cairo strike was sufficiently devastating already, enough of a hint of the horrors we believed long gone, long forgotten in our less-than-bright past. It was to prevent such an event that such US resolution was passed, and thus Rome is not only willing to break the law of living men but to shatter all over again all the links in this chain made of bone dust dating to the early 21st Century.

alright, Fine, the government will shut down the project, and we will decommission every conversion plants as well.

but this will cost you. you know, once we figure out how.

we are a tad smarter than Japan, you know? melting enemy cities will do nothing for the war effort. melting enemy armies, if they bunch up for some reason, has a greater effect. melting navies is a possibility, too. or just even use it as a (bad) ECM. we are ashamed that they dont trust us to be smart about it. but, whatever, nuclear weapons wont happen now.

Why no member of UNVIFOR replies to Thailand?!

Damn! For once I wanted to help the UN in this IOT, and no one seems to care. :p

Methinks because the UN is having of issues.

Panama Canal blocked

A ship experiencing navigational issues ran aground in the Panama canal and a small explosion caused damage to the Canal. As of the moment the canal is rendered inoperable and is closed to all traffic.
