Important Announcement About submissions:

Use the submission page and follow the instructions.

If you are defeated by conquest then submit a save from your last turn and select the pop-up option that says "The turn when I was conquered". You should have a Civ4Replay file as well. That will also be required.

I was defeated, by not many turns mind you, and I was presented with "One more turn..." or "Exit to Main Menu...(Or something to that effect)", and I chose the latter because I thought that was the right thing to do. It showed me my score and all.

So do I need to fire up the game from the last Autosave and choose "One more turn...". Then do I immediately save it, or end that turn then save it?

If you have a replay file then you can probably submit the save you have. If it hasn't produced a replay file then you'll certainly have to play the next turn, because you can't submit without one.

I submitted the save of the turn I lost, not the turn after. Thus my score was about 3k, instead of the 4.5k that was listed in the HOF screen.

Should I do the one more turn thing? Or should I just stick with what I've got?

BTW, my game bombed out on me a number of times near the end. I'm a little concerned playing and having this happen at the end of a long game multiple times.

So if you want an example of a save file that bombed a number of times near the end, take a look at mine.

I encountered an error message instead of a confirmation when I submitted my save. I followed directions and emailed the save etc. And I also included a screenie of the error message.

Since I wasn't able to get a confirmation email that my save had been received, I'm a little nervous about not having the game counted. So I just wanted to document it here just in case the email didn't get through. Hehe I know I worry too much.

If all else fails, send an e-mail with the save to gotm_submit@civfanatics.net.

I, too am getting an error message during submission... and time is running short! Here's the message i get...

Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_ELSE in /home/virtual/site7/fst/var/www/html/submit/c4_submission_check.php on line 312

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: validatesubmission() in /home/virtual/site7/fst/var/www/html/submit/civ-gotm-new.php on line 74

I'll submit the 2 files to the submission email address as listed in ainwood's note.

Greg

Apologies. I've fixed the script error. I'll submit the files players have sent me. Others can resubmit now.

[PS] A few players may have received acknowledgements saying their won games were Losses. That is an error and has been corrected.

Are we supposed to be able to see the scores of the submitted games in the submissions list? I just see a blank box next to each name, both in firefox and IE.

No. You are supposed to be able to see the submission date. Dunno why it's not showing up, I'll have a look when I get home tomorrow.

Scores are not released until the game is over and the results are published.

OK, thanks - must have misinterpreted someone else's post.

I got an "Exec Error 11" when I tried to submit my game a few days ago. Has anyone seen this before or know what the problem can be? If it helps my game was a conquest defeat so had the replay file and the auto-save from the turn before that pesky barbarian attacked.

Any help appreciated.

I received an error report from you a couple of days ago. Unfortunately I've been out of town for that period and haven't had time to respond or to investigate (I posted my last from an Apple Store!). Don't worry, I'll get back to you in the next 48 hours.

No worries - saw you'd been online and didn't know if my email had disappeared down some internet blackhole, so thought I'd try a different route.

Thanks for your help

I'm having trouble submitting a game, keep getting the following:

"Warning: ftp_login(): Authentication failed, sorry in /home/virtual/site7/fst/var/www/html/submit/civ-gotm_submission_upload2.php on line 29
Can't log in to server"

is this just a case of waiting?

Yes. There are major changes happening on the gotm and ftp servers at the moment. Apologies for the inconvenience. I'm trying to establish how to get things jury rigged to work during the transition.

EDIT I think I've found the magic incantation and submissions are now working again.

regarding submissions...you said we need to submit the replay file as well...is the replay file automatically generated? cause I've never seen an option to save one.

It's generated automatically when yo ucomplete the game. It's the means by which Civ4 remembers your results so that it can display your personal hall of fame. You should have a Civ4Replay file for each game you have completed - won, lost or retired, and they should all be in somewhere like your \My Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Replays\ folder. Forgive me if I don't have the precise nuances of the Windows folder structure absolutely correct, but this should be near enough for horseshoes ;)
