IMPORTANT. New GOTM submissions form

I recently completed the GOTM 31 and I'm getting an error after it declares me the winner. The error is Missing entry in "Scenerios/gotm25/text/pedialcons.text": LKISS_RACE_FRENCH
so I am unable to save a file AFTER my victory. Any ideas?

You have the wrong pediaicons.txt file. Use the one that came in your download .zip file and put it in the right /text folder in your Civ3 installation. If you are running vanilla then that's Civilization III\Text\. If you are running PtW or using a Conquests installation I have lost track of where it's supposed to go and keep getting into deep water when I try to adevise , but there are lots of recent posts around here that do specify it. Just search for pediaicons.txt in this forum fo rthe last month.

It's been very quiet :hmm:

Has anyone had any problems using the new submissions form?

You need to put the pediaicons.txt file that came with the downloaded save file in the
civ3ptw\Scenerios\gotm25\text\
directory. :)

@Alan: no news is good news! :D

As noted in my email to you I had to edit my /scenarios/gotm25/text/pediaicons.txt file.

I had to add
+ HAPPY_RACE_FRENCH
+ ANGRY_RACE_AZTECS

Otherwise the game exited at my space race victory.

Sorry, I don't recall seeing your email, and I don't throw any away except junk (I have a big hard drive ;) ) It sounds as though you didn't replace the pediaicons.txt file correctly. See the posts immediately above- the problem is related.

Works fine for me, great work Alan :goodjob:

Moderator Action: Screenshot removed, as we have now decided that Jason scores are a spoiler ;)

It's nice to see your Jason score right away

Question: I also have a domination victory, but the ingame screen says conquest victory. Could I submit this as a domination victory, and is the Firaxis score the same?

Well, the best date for conquest is always later than domination, so will score higher, so you probably want to submit as conquest anyway. Maybe AlanH has been flash and made the submission process select the highest scoring victory condition if the game is eligible for multiple!

:rotfl:
Well I'm good, but not that good! The game file tells me what the victory condition was. In theory you could submit a second file where you trigger domination instead of conquest, but that actually violates the rule that says you must not reload to alter an outcome.

Both victories would gve the same Firaxis score, as Firaxis doesn't differentiate, It just works on accumulated score during the game plus a bonus that's based on years before 2050 and difficulty. As Dianthus says, Jason score does distinguish them but I can't divulge which would give the better result.

I'm playing the current GOTM out to 2050AD (it's a slow month) and would like to know which of the available victory conditions would attain the highest score. I've got Space Race, Culture, Domination, Conquest & Histograph available. Is there a way to determine which of these I should win with to get the best score? I'm currently at 1918 AD, so I've got a ways to go.

This is the first time in quite a while I've played this late into the game and I just finished researching by 2nd future tech. I noticed the future tech display on the histograph screen still says 0.0. Is this a bug? Will I be getting credit for future techs in my score?

I think that all of the victory conditions score the same at 2050AD. The calculator for GOTM30 gives the same Jason score for all of them at 2050AD.

Correct. The Jason date bonus reduces to zero at 2050 AD for all victory conditions. Your result is then dependent purely on your Firaxis score relative to the "best score" for the map.

Someone did cause they did reply to it, think it was Ainwood. Sent it to the gotm email.

No matter I finished the game anyway and only difference was a few happy and angry faces at the end.

Worked fine for this little ol' Peanut. Just had to reload the last turn & replay after getting caught by the "french kiss" victory celebration problem - but easily fixed.

Great work AlanH. :goodjob: Just love it when a manual process is automated, enhanced and made foolproof (even peanut-proof) by folk cleverer than me. Good to see.

Alan a hearty  Your submissions program is wonderful.

Just submitted GOTM 31 with the new submission form and I think its awesome. Great job to the all who worked on it. :goodjob:

Thanks to all for your positive comments. It's had to handle a lot of entries this month, so it was a bit a baptism of fire. I guess the real proof of the system is in the relatively small number of people who have had any trouble with it.

So far the majority of reported problems have been where players have had crashes as a result of incorrect or faulty pediaicons.txt files. So if we can get that file right for everybody, and train one or two people not to submit incomplete games that are not conquest losses, I think the new system will be pretty painless for players and staff.

The submissions page is now open for COTM01 entries. It has had rather limited testing, as I don't have C3C myself, so please contact me here or via PM as soon as possible if there are teething problems, and please be patient with me as I try to resolve any that occur.

The Conquests file format is a bit different from the classic ones, and this affects the time the software will take to scan your submitted files. The scanning process may take up to 45 seconds to extract game data needed, in addition to the file upload time. Please be patient and let it finish in order to ensure that your submission is completed.
