I am starting this discussion thread to try and get a feel for the will of the people in regards to the most important resources on our map toady. I intend to start an informational poll sometime on Friday with the map below. There may not be a substantial opinion of the people as far as the importance of these resources, but I'm starting this discussion thread to help the Domestic Department learn this.

At present, we have 6 resources on our map that we should consider securing with our borders.Of these 6, two are obtainable with the placing of just one city (Furs & Iron). This poll will combine those two resources. Of these 5 options, which one do you think is the most important to secure first?
Furs & Iron, Spice, Gold, Horses, Incense

Good you pointed that our. I believe we should directly head for securing the horses soon before the aztecs get them!

Bavaria's borders will expand in 18 turns giving us the spice. The furs are tempting but if we build a city so that we get both furs and iron we'd have to wait to connect it or we'd be unable to use the warrior upgrade strategy. Given that, I'd say the horses are top priority - though that may change as the situation developes.

The horses are definitely the highest priority. Our territory will be gapping in that direction as we take Aztec cities. We will need a city or two to joing our homelands to the occupied territories.

I'd agree that horses should currently be considered the top priority amongst these resources, for the reasons given by Donsig & Shaitan, and also because it gives us the option of a horse-rush in the not so distant future.

I will concur with the other statements. Horses will be essential for now, and later when we gain to ability to build knights and cavalry.

We should also keep an eye on those furs. We met the Japanese warrior in that forest. Doubtless, Japan will settle there the first chance they get.
